    If gambling and/or fantasy sports didn't exist these days

    Would you even watch or pay attention to sports?

    I was just thinking about this with all of the fantasy reactions/gambling angles discussed after Peterson's suspension. I wonder if Goodell and his ilk even realize that without fans being obsessed with betting on their teams and "owning" their players, the league would probably go belly-up.

    Yes. Might watch less of it. Might follow my Toronto teams more closely.

    But I likely wouldn't be pissed if I couldn't find a stream for a University of North Texas game.

    Gambling is the overwhelming reason why these sports exists and continue to grow. That is why these scandal es in sports don't really hurt these sports popularity

    i agree if it wasnt for betting i wouldnt ever watch a single sporting event unless i could attend it in person.

    if i am going to be watching a game on tv i gotta either be drinking or have money on it. Preferably both.

    Exactly. I said the same thing about steroid use. Fans don't care. There is a detachment factor. They just want their players to put up big numbers and be "gladiators" to help win them money. That's what the MSM doesn't understand.

    This is not just the case with American sports every league in the World and the popularity in which they have grown is thanks in part to gambling. Yeah one might follow his/her team but that's about it...
