- Adam Eaton slugged .612 in August despite not hitting a home run, and is just the 5th player in the past 50 years to slug over .600 in a month without hitting any homers (min 50 PA).
- Carlos Gomez hit 6 homers in August but was also caught stealing 6 times that month. He is the first person since Jose Canseco in 1998 to “achieve” this, and just the 3rd player ever to do it in August.
- Brian Dozier was solid all around in August, collecting 30 hits, 25 walks, and scoring 25 runs. He is the first player since Joey Bautista in 2011 with 25+ H, BB, and R in a month, and the first Twins player since Chuck Knobluach in 1995.
- Matt Shoemaker joined Clayton Kershaw as the only pitchers to win 6 games in one month this season, and is just the 3rd player in the past 10 years (Andy Pettitte & Johan Santana) to do it in August.
- Madison Bumgarner is the first pitcher with multiple shutouts in August since Felix Hernandez and Cole Hamels in 2012, and his 56 strikeouts are the most by a pitcher with 2+ SHO in August since Randy Johnson in 2002.
- Bumgarner (56 SO, 3 BB in August) is also just the 4th pitcher in MLB history to strikeout over 50 batters with 3 or fewer walks in a month joining Cliff Lee, Curt Schilling, and Pedro Martinez; Pedro was the only other member of the group to do so in August.
- Rick Porcello had a rough August allowing 50 hits and losing 4 games, but his ERA was a solid 2.70 for the month. He is the first pitcher since Dennis “Oil Can” Boyd in 1983 with an ERA under 3.00 in a month where he allowed 50+ hits and lost 4+ games.
- Greg Holland saved 11 games in August with a 1.32 ERA, which was his 3rd time saving at least 11 games with an ERA under 1.50 in a month, something only Eric Gagne,Trevor Hoffman, and Mariano Rivera have ever done.
