Mark Newhouse and Brian Devonshire are the only two names I readily recognize. Would be interesting if they made it to the final 9!

Awesome coverage from pokernews. Numbers probably off a few percent because some players have had less hands recorded but gives a good insight into who's playing to win and who's turtling up the pay ladder. Next elimination as I write this is a 95k money jump so the turtles are probably creaming their pants

Would be awesome if Newhouse made back to back final tables but he's slipping.

Have any former or current sbr members had any success in the wsop or similar events? If so, what was the highest placing or cash out?

autodonk, what did it cost to go to the wsop academy?

Even now I'd say Newhouse has surpassed Dan Harrington in 03 and 04. The depth of the last 2 fields compared to 03-04 is ridiculous

he has to make the final table, and if he gets a top 3 this year, then its a no brainer.... harrington got 3rd and 4th i believe back to back years.... newhouse got 9th last year, he needs a top 3 to surpass dan

I'm proud to say I'm positive lifetime in the WSOP but thats a small sample of 5 $1500 events from 07 to 08. 2/5 cashes for 6k or so in profit. Then had the bright idea to focus on online and got so much money tied up at full tilt and UB after Black Friday that I've yet to get my roll back up.

You might be right. On second thought those were still the days they played it straight through and 04 especially was a marathon for Harrington.

20 hours straight vs 7 12hr days is tough to compare

The FTP remission process was a joke for me and a few close friends who were all 4 and 5 figures light comparing our numbers to what the commision was claiming as our balance. I still cringe when I see Poker after Dark reruns. Every bet I see our money going in.

    Harrington 03 - 3/839
    Harrington 04 - 4/2576

    Newhouse 13 - 9/6352
    Newhouse 14 - 16th or better/6683

    Better than not even close.

I dont know why but I hope Newhouse gets 9th again. I mean what a tremendous accomplishment if he does, but he would have to be on suicide watch

Why would he be on suicide watch?

    Isn't 9th the final table?

Pretty sure I'd be the exact opposite of suicide watch if I cashed roughly 2 megas in 2/54 weeks of work. I'd be pumped to put Harrington to shame with my 3rd next year too.

I play all the time, and have no clue what you're talking about.

Coming in 10th might be a little depressing, but not 9th.

Back-to-back final tables will go down as an historic accomplishment.

the first 9th wouldnt be depressing at all, but the 2nd 9th in a row, after you already have the money, would be very deflating. the money is meaningless at that point.

i mean they give everyone that makes the final table 9th place prize money, then you get the difference in november depending on where you finish. I mean, he could go that 4 month stretch 2 years in a row with all the hype and attention and get nothing two years in a row. I mean just having a chance at the final table in the main event is like a once in a lifetime chance for even the best pros. And to make it two years in a row, and get 9th both times would be a little depressing, especially for someone who the money doesnt mean much. NewHouse is a long time pro. He won the AC Open in 2006, and has played the main event for almost a decade. 750K or whatever 9th place gets is a lot to him but not lifechanging.

If he makes two final tables, back to back, at the main event, he is suddenly a household name.

    There's nothing depressing about that.

didn't cost me a dime... won it by winning a trny at the old espn poker site..... free air fare, suite at bally's, and the course all for free. played my first wsop event that trip, a 345 buyin nightly, final tabled it and chopped as the chip leader. I think the course is around $2500 or so, had annie duke, alex outhred, and Annette obrestad as the instructors, and joe Navarro did an excellent hour or two on tells.....

Alex Outhred... the soul reader... made it far in a Venetian deep stack event 4 years ago at a table with him. He soul read me once too, big time. I opened UTG, and everyone folded, he said "Aces"... I said no, but I really did have AA. I was playing loose at the time too. It kinda pissed me off actually that he read me that good

This is where someone can really take charge and set themselves up to win. Whoever has the biggest balls without getting trapped will be in the best shape.

It's tough, you wanna build chips here but not take a big hit. I'm folding everything but absolute premium here unless I'm short but that's why I'll never final table the main event.

Oh yeah, defeinately favors Newhouse right now, experience means a ton. he will be winning the most pots for sure. Most everyone will be nitting it up. you may see some lite 3 bets, but the guy who can 4 bet pre lite and raise the flop lite and get away with it will be set up.

Yep, he's been very active still. He's down a bit recently but has been able to steal some and will probably hit one soon enough.

Mark Newhouse raised to 500,000 under the gun. Maximilian Senft called, as did Luis Velador on the button. Newhouse checked the flop, and Senft took the opportunity to bet 775,000. Velador called, as did Newhouse. On the turn, everyone checked. An hit, and three checks followed. Senft's lost to the of Velador.

Strange hand to me. Newhouse didn't get out of line and Velador didn't even try anything. Everyone treading lightly.
