    How does offsides not make sence? without them you'd just have people standing up one side of the park and the defensive line needing to be 2 yards from goal to avoid the game being a 80 yard lobbing match.

    offside: when the ball is passed to a player their must be at least 2 players between him and the goal (including the goalie) if their is only 1 player he is offside.

    K got it, but what that also does is not let the defense have to ever worry about lobs which is the point I suppose. Then you could just keep your offense pretty much forward which is why soccer is boring and too hard to score goals, can you imagine in football if the wr got behind the safety and they waved the play off.

    in the biggest tournament they allow a penalty kickoff to determine the winner. that says more than enough about soccer.

    how else do you suggest its done? They've had golden goal, replays etc and I feel penalties works best. I have no affiliation with any the teams who have had shoot-outs this world cup yet i've been on the edge of my seat and nervous both times, they are so exciting.

    penalty kicks is the worst out of all options for extra time. whoever scores first should win, not whoever scores first in extra time then allow the clock to finish running and if you still have the lead then then you win.

    They have fat goalies. You only see the fit ones in world cup.

    There is a coin flip before start of game just like football to determine who gets the ball first or choose field if game is windy for example.

    Offsides is what makes the game good to watch. Without offsides you will gave players at each others boxes with no passing and just lobbing the ball from one end to the other end.

    They should do it like the US Open Golf tourney

    If after regulation and extra time the teams are still tied they should have another match in 3 days with double the substitutions allowed. Fans that attended the original match could attend for half price maybe

    one way to think of offsides (for people who know hockey) is that the last defenceman (assuming the goalie is there also) is the moving "blue line", you cannot be ahead of the blue line without the ball.

    Small difference is before the ball is kicked, the offensive player cannot be ahead of the last defender but as soon as the ball is in motion, the offence can go ahead of the defence.

    Penalty shootouts are fine if the game is still tied after 120 minutes, I personally love watching them as there is so much excitement.....They tried golden goal or sudden death and everyone played way too conservative instead of going for the win

    Off side is where the attacking team kick the ball forward he must at least level and not behind the last defender

    He can go out of the Goal but when he is out he can't use his hands. One goalie in today's game did it a ton.
