    Have you noticed how popular this year's World Cup is in the USA?

    Seems like there is a lot more interest in it this time

    People who have never cared about soccer are talking about it

    Bookies who have never taken much action on it are offering special lines and trying to score big at other books or in Vegas

    Might be that ESPN is covering it so heavily I can't remember how they covered it 4 years ago

    Things like twitter and facebook have grown immensely and are stirring up popularity.

    Most of the USA is made of South American people too.....due to the influx of immigration. Guess what sport they like?

    There is nothing else to watch on. No football, basketball or hockey. Baseball is very regional and most states don't have teams to root for.

    not to mention the time difference (or the lack of it). Casual fans don't want to watch USA at 3 in the morning or whatever.
