    I really just dont understand

How anyone can talk shit about any top level sport?

I respect athletes of any sport who have reached the top level. All sports take a skill set that requires an immense amount of hard work and dedication.

So, while Half of the SBR population hates on other sports while their too unathletic to even play washers, im gonna say that all sports deserve respect. Because none of us will ever reach the pinnacle that these athletes have.

What I don't understand is that these supposedly gamblers are hating on others sports when i thought the object is to make money and if you not betting soccer you just don't like money

I might get some hate for this, but I don't consider Golf a sport and do not think it belongs in the next Olympics.

I rank Golf right along with Billiards as far as it being a sport goes.

Same thing at Golf/Darts/Billiards. People that are out of shape can excel at them.

I think they are more of a skill activity than a physical sport.

I watched a 5 year old girl barely roll a bowling ball down a lane and get a strike once.

That is the thing, you can take a 180 pound 6' tall man in peak physical condition and he can get smoked in Bowling by a 300 pound guy with a heart condition.

Not quite what I was expecting but I see your point.

But let's say fat boy X up there is the world's best bowler. Even as fat as he is.

Do you think he might benefit from a little cardio? To make him even better.

Surely it could give him some kind of edge.

Most definitely give him an edge.

Most of the activities that I listed can be played by people of all ages from 5 to 90 where as most "sports" are not. Every time I drive past the local Golf course, I mostly see groups of white haired gentlemen.

With these recreational activities, the players have constant breaks despite very little energy spent.

you know that pro golfers practice exorbitant amount of hours per day right?

i bet you can't hit 500 balls daily for a week cause it's too straining to your body.

go try hitting 500 balls for a week and tell me how you feel about golf.

it has nothing to do with being hard.

i hit 500 balls for a week and my body couldn't handle it.

All I know is that when I was Golfing years ago, I didn't feel like an athlete. When I see a group of old men or young guys Golfing, I don't consider them athletes. But when I see a Basketball court full of guys playing ball, even though they are not professionals, I do consider them athletes.

To me a sport is something that is played by athletes.

I am not trying to hate on Golf or Billiards as I enjoy playing them, but I don't consider either one physically demanding enough to place in the sports category.

baseball is not physically demanding. nearly half of the game you are on the bench and most of the other half you are just standing there.

    take my challenge pal.

go hit 500 balls a day for a week and tell me they're not athletes.

of course you can golf recreationally and have couple drinks while you shoot some shit while you ride around in a cart.

but i give pro golfers props.

this challenge is for anybody and not just for kermit.

but find a range where they have unlimited ranges balls for like $20.

    this challenge can get costly.

It takes a great amount of talent and concentration to play at the professional level, but you don't have to be athletic to do it.

If it was my job to hit 500 balls a day for a week, and I didn't have another profession that I needed to make ends meet, I would do it.

It's no different than someone telling me that an NFL player practices and lifts weights for 8 hours a day, or a Baseball player that takes batting practice for 3 hours. They are supposed to be doing that.

Wasn't there a Pro Golfer who as handicapped or something and they said that he was allowed to use a cart while other players had to walk? That doesn't seem quite fair.

golf isn't my profession but i took that challenge since i had the same view as you.

someone told me i bet you can't hit 500 balls a day for week and i said that's easy... well it's not.

if you're not gonna take that challenge, just stop with your nonsense...

    My nonsense?

My point is that I am not going to go out and hit 500 golf balls a day because I have a regular job that I already do and I don't want to exert and waste extra energy hitting 500 golf balls around everyday. If a Pro claims that he drives 500 balls a day, more power to him.

Swinging anything 500 times is eventually going to be tiresome and make you sore, especially if you have never done it, or have not done it in awhile. If you haven't run in awhile and then you go for a run, you are going to be sore the next day.

No, but it's become so much interesting.

Like what qualifies as a sport(s)/and/or athlete.

You cannot make assumptions on what that entails unless you define a base line.

    Good stuff hammer.
