The USA actually beat Portugal in the World Cup in Korea....so it's happened before. Guys like Ronaldo and Messi haven't exactly set the world on fire in the Cup as well, so if somehow the US can beat Ghana weird crap happens at the World Cup

It's standard, you make motley teams like the nationals, they need as much playtime together as possible. Especially with the new and very inexperienced guys.

As far as the Group USA is in - nothing is impossible. We have seen much weaker teams beat Germany, Portugal, Spain, etc before. We had a decent chance before Klinsmann sold us out. If Klinsmann was to actually put together a real squad - I would've bet on us getting the #2 spot in the group.

Nigeria was just involved in a FIFA alert in Europe if I remember correctly for some "Syndicate" infiltration in Southeast Asia trying to get involved in their "friendlies" A game this close to the World Cup start I would think is going to be very methodical and no one is going to get hurt out there....might not be a bad place to take a shot at a Draw

There were some tough fouls on Mexico game last night. I would rather have a player injured in a friendly rather than World Cup where you can't replace him.

They are playing Nigeria as a way to get a preview of going against an African team before the opener against Ghana.

Most of you ass nuggets don't know squat about Klinnsman....he's lived in the US for a very long time...and when he coached the German team he commuted there from LA and took a lot of heat for living in America and was "accused for being too American...and needed to get his ass back home...but he wouldn't do it. You actually think there is some American that might know soccer/football better than someone from Europe? Seriously? American needs every bit of European influence in their football program they can get...and not having Landon Donovan was one part, but coaching is another, and players who go abroad to play at a high level is another

Because they are better coaches. I can't recall of an American coach coaching for a high level team.

USA coach has lived in the USA for awhile. His wife might be American too. I don't like him due to leaving LD10 off and his pussy can't win attitude.

JJ, the Americans played Nigeria in their final warm-up game because the Super Eagles are an African side that play a similar style to their first opponent in the World Cup -- Ghana. It's obviously not the same as a friendly against a side that is an exact clone of Ghana, but at least it gives the U.S. a small glimpse of what to look for in the Cup opener.

Klinsmann is/will be amazing for US Soccer in the long run.....Adding a bunch of talented Euro-Americans and really recruiting them, setting up and pushing for developmental leagues in the US, the way they train and are constantly competing for playing time and roster spots, etc

Yeah we have to put up with some minor BS where he says some questionable things in the media, but he is awesome for US Soccer as a whole

    Jozy is back btw!

Our middle looked very solid. That is key to playing well in international play.
We were compact and together. That is what it takes to compete with these top class countries. If we can keep that solidified and SOMEHOW have our defense find form, we can make it out of this deathly group.

    Cmon USA!
