Lakers were stupid to sign him to a new contract. One of the highest paid players in the league due to past performance.

    NBA is for young guys

Kobe would be a good 6th man for a good team only

lolzz.. he was a top 5 player before blowing out the achilles... IF he decides that he wants to play hard again, he will, again, be one of the top players in the league... just like Tiger, again, will be favored to win most events he enters when he is healthy...

Unfortunately he will retire a Laker...and he should as no other team in their right or wrong mind would pay that kind of money to a Gimp with questionable shot selection...The only question that remains is who is the next coach or star player Kobe will try and run out of town when they miss the playoffs next year...And this is not Kobe's last contract either. He has scoring records to chase and will likely resign for one or two more years after this latest contract is up...Mitch won't like it but the Buss family will once again cave in and likely drop another 15 mill a year or so to the Gimp further destroying any chance they have of building a deeper roster...

manning plays a position that requires minimal athletism

Either he's done or he gets an insta-chip via some kind of melo-love mega trio extravaganza and then retires. I'm leaning towards done.

I don't think he will be the greatest, I just think he will do fine this year. Top 50 player easily.
