Interesting fact about California Chrome
He is a descendant of the greatest race horse ever, Secretariathe has Secretariats blood running through his veins. Secretariat of course has to date records in the Derby, Preakness and Belmont.
I know the horse buffs know this but thought some of you might find this piece of history interesting.
I believe (could be wrong as I havent fact checked) that Smarty Jones was the last triple crown candidate that was a descendant of Secretariat.
secretariat is genghis khan in the horse world.
wouldn't surprise me if 50% of the race horses have his blood in them...

prolific sires of the past 20 years and Gone West a well above average sire
Union Rags, Summer Bird and Rags to
Riches are all Belmont winners with Secretariat blood since Smarty Jones..

In racing insemination I believe is still illegal. Horses have to bump uglies. Anyone ever read about buddy the teaser at clairborne farms years ago? That story would make you laugh so hard you cry
kraken on an OKC note I am hearing Ibaka wants to play and team is not allowing, is that true?
One of the best ones IMO is Nearco. Sired in 1935 he is the paternal
grand sire of Northern Dancer and Bold Ruler. What a legacy that is to
leave behind. BR of course the sire of Secretariat and great grandsire
of Seattle Slew. This makes AP Indy 4x3 to BR I believe
....and I love breeding and insemenating.

Summer Squall should also be mentioned. Half brother to AP Indy, he was the dam sire
of the above mentioned Summer Bird. He is also the sire of Charismatic who won the Derby
and was horse of the year in 1999. He died in 2009
Nearco is also the maternal great great grandsire of Mr Prospector meaning
his blood is running through all 3 major sire lines of the last half of
the 20th century.. Northern Dancer, Bold Ruler and Mr Prospector.. Wasn't
aware of this.. quite amazing
