Don't worry, you're only 19 ... this probably won't rank in your Top 5 if you keep plugging through your 21st birthday.

Nah I'm done. U can't win after this. Watching the game with my younger brother was going to give him $1,000. Give my dad $1,000. And this happens

Always try and hedge if you have a chance specially if 1) its a lot of money and 2) if you can win on 2 sides.
This is assuming you have the option of live betting.

If youre 19 and this loss is killing you, stop betting man.
Betting with money you cannot afford to lose is BAD news and I know everyone on here will agree.
I did the same when I was 19-21.. .bet with money I could not afford to lose. It leads to bad things.

You cant bet with money you need.
Lesson learned. Go make it back working. And bet again when you have disposable income.

I dont think he meant he was betting with family money that they needed, I think he meant it would have been a lot of money for his family to have.

Ya, bad beat for sure. They hurt. Take a week or two off.

I had a bad beat a few years ago on an O/U that involved the Thunder. OKC was winning by a ton but the total was two points under, which I had. With about 3 seconds left, Kevin Durant hands the ball to a referee who is standing out of bounds. KD must of thought the game was over anyways, the other team in bounds the ball, shoots a meaningless 3 and swish. Game goes over by 1

Stay in it long enough, you'll have a lot of stories to tell. Albeit expensive ones.

    OP,

Auburn losing the National Title game in college football cost me 43K on $17.50 in total wagers, one of which was a $5 parlay at 8000 to 1 odds. It is heartbreaking, but you will survive. Its only money, and honestly, you may look back on this loss as a blessing some day. I have my reasons to consider my loss a blessing... money isnt everything

I'm only a year older than you and I've had dozens of such losses (like anyone who's been in this game for more than a few months and bets a lot really, nobody's immune to it). I was actually on the Clips too smh.

Yet I've never considered stopping. Not once. I just come back the next day and get on with it. Sometimes I wonder how I pick myself up every time, but somehow I'm still around. Doesn't change that I get very mad over these losses and spend hours rumbling about them, but to the point where I'd quit? Never.

That said I can't tell you whether you should stop or not, but all I can say is that this shit ain't for everybody. If you're like me you won't stop and you know it deep down.

Toronto Raptors not even covering a spread of 8 after going into the fourth quarter with a 20+ point lead will remain the worst bad beat of all time I think.

Since you are laying down $500 on a longshot parlay.....you either have an extremely well paying high school / college job......or you were born into money, either way a nice situation. With that said, you definitely don't need the heartaches of gambling, you are already in a solid position.....learn from it, and move on kid.

Kid you're young and it seems like you have an incorrect philosophy about betting that sounds something like this...oh this is easy I can beat this game anytime I want. You cannot, and you will have tremendous beatings your entire life, this one will be nothing if you continue in your ways and I am betting you will. Why? because you will get over this and very shortly start up again. If you are a seasoned player you know this. Very few of us quit for life. And listen to this, YOU CAN'T WIN IN THE LONG RUN. People that say you can are lying or idiots. I have been involved on both sides both receiving and making plays and I know you can't. And this is not for years it is decades, many many decades. Nobody wins, almost nobody, I will admit that maybe 1% of players win and believe me when I tell you this 1% is a very very high figure. In reality, I don't even think it is 1%.

So what is the strategy if you know you can't win but you must play. That is up to you, you must make some rules and follow them always. Mr K said something like don't chase money, that is really important. You know what I have discovered about many players, they bet more when losing and less when on a winning streak. Well that is probably exactly reversed of what you should do. But, even better is to find an amount that you can lose for the week and when that is reached STOP. Also, calculate an amount for each and every bet decide on a percentage like 10% and don't deviate from that variable. For example you start with a $40 play, your lowest bet is 36 and your highest is 44.

This is just an example you must find what works for you. The truth is it almost inevitable that if you continue to bet you will have disastrous years and you will ruin your life and people close to you. You're19 make a good decision here. It is unbelievable how many people I personally know that have ruined their life, two suicides by the way.
