    Mike D'Antoni resigns as Lakers coach

    Mike D'Antoni has resigned from his position as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, according to a report from ESPN via Ramon Shelburne.

    D'Antoni's disastrous season with the Lakers can be blamed on injuries to Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, and most of the rest of the Lakers, but D'Antoni's style never seemed to work with the healthy players he had and the Lakers' disastrous season was, frankly, embarrassing. No word on who his replacement might be, but it's a safe bet that Kobe will have plenty of input into who gets the job.

    The guy has shown he obviously has no clue about defense...at every stop he's been at his teams of been a trainwreck. I would be shocked if any organization takes a chance with him again as I think his act has finally worn thin If anything, I think he's the professional consultant type helping offense's because no team would want his clown act running the lockerroom anymore

    A couple nights this year I looked at roster starting five and basically knew two guys that are backups . I am sure glad Kobe is there with his new contract extension, that will help the rebuilding . Tough spot for the lakers for sure

    I actually like Lakers games this season. Most of the games are like all-star games.

    Anyway, his fast paced offense wouldn't suit a team with aging players like Kobe and Nash. Not surprised that he resigned.
