Did the Braves - Marlins series broke the record for most strikeouts?
Someone tally the strikeouts in all three games by all pitchers. Never seen such awful hitting in my life before. Each game feels like it had 25 strikeouts or more. The art of hitting in MLB is lost. Marlins score 4 runs total in 3 games any they won a game!
Not really that mind blowing when you think about guys like Dan the fan in the lineup
mlb should have thought of that before banning peds

Miami strikeout 41 times
Atlanta strikeout 37 times
78 strikeouts in 55 innings

I counted the braves/marlins at 78 total strikeouts
last year on april 19 the Tigers and Mariners combined for 82 strikeouts in a 3 game series to set the record... but they played 4 more innings due to a 14 inning game

Detroit Tigers shortstop Jhonny Peralta struck out seven times in the three-game series against the Seattle Mariners. The Tigers and the Mariners combined for 82 strikeouts, a record for a three-game series.
AP PhotoSEATTLE -- No two teams have ever struck out in a series as many times as the Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners just did.The Tigers and Mariners combined for 82 strikeouts in their three-game series, the most combined strikeouts ever in a series of three games or fewer, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
The Tigers struck out 42 times in the series, including 16 times in the series opener and 21 times Wednesday night in a 14-inning marathon. The Mariners struck out nine times Tuesday, 19 times Wednesday and 12 times Thursday for a total of 40 strikeouts.
Here is a list of the players who struck out the most times in the series:
- 9 -- Prince Fielder, Tigers
- 7 -- Jhonny Peralta, Tigers
- 5 -- Andy Dirks, Tigers
- 5 -- Austin Jackson, Tigers
- 5 -- Michael Morse, Mariners
Victor Martinez did not strike out at all in 15 plate appearances.Here are the players who struck out the most batters in the series:
- 12 -- Felix Hernandez, Mariners
- 12 -- Max Scherzer, Tigers
- 12 -- Justin Verlander, Tigers
- 6 -- Charlie Furbush, Mariners
- 6 -- Aaron Harang, Mariners
- 5 -- Al Alburquerque, Tigers
- 5 -- Doug Fister, Tigers
The Tigers averaged 5.5 strikeouts per game in their first 12 games this season before averaging 14 in the three games against the Mariners. The Tigers had the fewest strikeouts of any team in the majors heading into the series but now rank 19th with 108.The Mariners are third in the majors with 135.

82/59 = 1.39
Looks like they averaged more K's per inning in Braves/Marlins.

I think strikeouts are up in general the last 3 years in mlb. So many guys trying to hit hrs now because that's where money is. Also I think more guys are guess hitters now therefore more strikeouts.
