Shabazz Napier looking like Steph Curry!

Not quite the release but big time shots and same step back 3 pointers. And clutch in the moment. If Napier is hitting from deep tonight they won't need the + 2.5.

Everyone keeps saying Uconn has the newbie coach and no experience. Don't forget they won this tourney in 2011 with some of these players who were freshman. Ollie was on that bench.

I think Curry much more explosive scorer and better all around player

I think Napier could be a good pro though

    First Kemba, now Curry.

Any other short black guards SBR posters want to blindly compare him to despite there being no resemblance?

Two short 2 guards that hit 40% from three and take em off the dribble to create that shot. Getting 5+ assists in final season. Both exactly 87% from FT in final season. Blindly compare? Cmon No C!

He is smaller than Curry and not as fast at anything he does so who knows about NBA but right now in this run, he is playing his game.

Kemba? That probably comes from him being the last name in Uconn scoring guards. In defense of whoever said that, its natural to look at them side by side.

Of course it's "natural," but there aren't many parallels other than the name on the front of their jersey. Even Napier himself has said as much.

I don't see a comparison to Curry either. At all. Curry is one of the greatest pure shooters of a generation. Kemba is one of the quickest and most athletic guards in the NBA. Napier is neither.

    Time will tell

Napier is carrying a team to a possible national title .. Those types usually do ok in nba.

Yea he's showin some speed in the tourney. Curry's shooting release is the fastest in the game I think...especially of a top player. His dad was fast as a specialist.

If he didn't play for UConn, he would never be compared to Kemba. Ever.

just to be clear about steph's run in 08, he had over 30 in 3 of his 4 tourney games the year they almost made the final four

shabazz has scored 20+ in 3 of their 5 tourney games and was their third leading scorer last game

sure he's been playing well but his play is getting hugely exaggerated to say its any sort of historic run

DJ Augustine is about the only viable comparison I see.

Curry had silly #s on paper. Without lookin at stats again Ill say he took about double the shot attempts and had double the TOs. Curry probably would have a few less points if he played at a D1 school. But agree, comparisons stop after the style of play here and there.

i was actually at his first and second round games in 08 and he carried them on his back against gonzaga and against gtown (with hibbert)....both of which were very good teams and he single handedly took davidson to w's

again napier is playing very well but to even consider him to be playing at the caliber isnt correct

boatright is 10x the player of anyone curry played with...he literally did it himself

Napier reminds me of Damian Lillard; not as good as Curry, but not a bad comparison, Bill. This kid is the real deal. He COMMANDS respect.

Boatright made a pull up mid range jumper in this game that took my breath away, want to see more of him.

Boatright might have more off the dribble skills than Napier actually, as far as Curry he is impossible to guard and can get to the rim real easy too and a tremendous passer.

it sounded like he did. Cal really disappointed me with the press conf afterwards. He just sounded stupid the whole time. I thought he did a great job up until this game.
