I had a futures on Spain to win the Cup last go around .. i chose them b/c they had the best goalie and i figure if the opposing team can't score you have a good chance to win...

I was considering putting a futures bet on Germany at +550 or Brazil +300 but do you think Spain has a chance to repeat bubblez?

even the best goalies in the world have no chance in stopping certain shots or certain situations. This isnt hockey, goalies skill only matters up to a certain point after that its really doesnt matter all about the overall team

Casillas is no where near the best in the world anymore...Courtois, Neuer, and Sirigu are better

Maybe 2 years ago, but not now. St Iker has fallen from grace and is not even the 1st choice for RM now.

Manuel Neuer of Germany is the worlds best. Courtois is 2nd best he plays for Belgium.

Personally i think Courtois has a TON more potential then Neuer however currently Neuer is more even in terms of performance, it's sort of hard to rate him though when Bayern Munich is pretty much invincible and he hardly has to act during most of their games.

Depends what the backline looks like in front of them...Neuer's probably will be a little better? I guess that's where the debate is?

If the thread is about which keeper will be the best @ the World Cup Buffon should be mentioned. Italy have one of the worlds best defense with their catenaccio style.

Courtois has to be up there, gets more action than Neuer. But nothing beats a goalie with LaTourette's.

Courtois or Neuer... Pretty irrelevant as far as who will actually win though.

Winner will be Brazil or Argentina.

    Argentina isn't winning shit.

They have sucked, relatively speaking, since Maradona stopped playing for them.

The three teams that have a chance of winning are Spain, Germany, and Brazil.

Granted I would love if my favorite team, England, could win it just one more time.

I'll live my whole life and probably never see England win, but there is always hope.

    Joe Hart

You should ask a second question, who has the best defence.

Considering all the variables I have come to the conclusion that France have the best, Sagna, Evra, Varane, Koscielny then look at there defensive midfielders with Matuidi Lloris at the back, Sakho, Mangala for depth, also consider the ease of the group on paper this team should concede very few.

May not be wrong as no team has an extremely solid defence, but varane is still very raw and untested at highest level. Evra is past his best and has been getting caught out of position frequently this season. Sakho is not a good defender!

i keep reading about how the European teams won't be able to handle the humidity etc..

but with this tournament being in the winter that won't matter much will it?

Not as much when youve only made 37 appearances in 3 seasons and most of those starts have been in league games against teams like Valladolid, Getafe, Elche, etc... He is a huge talent and could be one of the best defenders in the world in a few seasons, but doesnt mean that hes good enough yet to be a key defender in a competition as big as the World Cup
