    How bad is SEC basketball...

When Georgia can beat Ole Miss tomorrow and be 3rd in the conference?

    Wow

GA will not beat Ole Miss tomorrow. The SEC is bad, but this bad conference just might have a Fianl Four team in Florida. No other team outside the Shockers has more experience and like Seth Greenberg said, that accounts for a lot. This FL team will shock a lot of people come tourney time in my mind.

Last I checked, they were ranked third in the country.

But back on point, the SEC is BAD, but Florida and Kentucky are still legitimate tourney threats.

For the people talking about FL, I mean they must suck right? They are overrated and have yet to play anyone because of their conference right? I find it funny the SEC sucks so terribly in basketball, but yet 3 of the last 8 tourney champions are from the SEC. 0 from the SEC. So while the retards on the networks will continue to ride the B1G and the B12 they have 0 titles in that span. Not to say they don't have good teams, but apparently it just goes to show the SEC which everyone thinks sucks is not that bad.

I dunno about that. Both are really great coaches; I wouldn't mind having either on my side. The SEC is weak as a whole and lacks depth. Heading into this week I had Florida ranked 5th and Kentucky 15th. I feel the Gators are much more dangerous and prepared to make a run if the tourney started right now than the Wildcats. Kentucky's ranking is a bit skewed cause their ceiling is so high, you get the feeling that they're good but they still have much more room to improve this late into the season. I personally don't care too much about where the AP has teams ranked; I prefer Vegas over them.

The SEC as a whole does suck, but it is a top-heavy conference where the top two can beat anyone. It has been that way for years and just about always with the same two teams.

Doesn't make any sense. Several SEC teams have decent tradition, good facilities, and are in a recruiting hot bed.

LSU just recently beat KY, Florida will lose a random game this year. However, when Indiana knocks off some powerhouse from the B1G everyone blows their load about how great they are. While yes, you won't see USCe or probably Auburn being dominant, up until a few years ago Mississippi State had very good teams under Stansbury. If Kennedy was fired at Ole Miss I can guarantee you some nice school would pick him up because the man can flat out recruit. Actually, I know a lot of Cincy fans that wanted him hired as the full time guy after Huggins.

Because the Big Ten is way better than the SEC in basketball. Just let us have this one.

As a whole the SEC is pretty bad but Florida and Kentucky are legit.....Pretty much Big Ten Football-ish with the 2 or so solid teams and garbage beyond that

Gamecocks are bad again but they were pretty decent when I was in school and lived there, 05-10....A bunch of fun upsets and NIT back to back champs

oh well, best baseball program in the country recently and finished top 10 in football 3 years runnin......

Georgia finishes 3rd in the SEC. Honestly, if they are just bad to start the season instead of absolutely terrible they'd make the tournament.

Other than Florida being a Juggernaut, this actually shapes up well for Georgia.

Georgia Mark Fox very underrated he had some tremendous years at Nevada before going to Georgia. LY they were 15-17 so mediocre but not terrible. lost a lot of close games. TY they brought back 3 starters and lots of key returners who have played significant minutes.

do your HW. Georgia is not that bad

In what other major conference in America would UGA be the 3rd best team?

since starting 1-4, the Dawgs are 17-8. i personally believe, based on what i've seen of college hoops the past 3 calendar mos, that the Dawgs are on par with the Big East 3rd place teams (Providence, Xavier, and St. John's) and the Pac 12 third place teams (Oregon, ASU, Colo, Stanford, Cal).

Georgia is a stronger team than their 18-12 record and RPI rank of 70 would suggest, just based on current form. they got hot the last 20-25 games but their early nonconf sched killed them.

they are not a great team, but not nearly as weak as you make them seem, and the SEC top to bottom is not as weak as people are saying

SEC is 12 -2 in the ncaa, nit and cbi. 3 out of 3 teams in the sweet 16. Ironically, the selection committee put UK and Tennessee in the same region which is stupid as shit. I guess they didn't want 3 SEC teams in the Final 4.
