I will be the first to admit that Lebron is an amazing athlete and is the best player in the NBA right now. But what kills me is his cockiness attitude and his constant need for attention.
On the eve of the dunk contest, he needs to release a dunk video to grab everyones attention so we can talk about him.
Then he makes this cocky top 4 comment like we already don't know he will be one of the best. Then this will be the conversation for the rest of the month.
He is a legit attention whore.
I honestly cant stand him anymore because ESPN reports his every move.
Even when it's not NBA related, sportscenter will send a bullshit Lebron update like this.....

Who can ever surpass the great mystique of a legend? Only time can weather away the memories and make room for the doubt required to even suggest other players. The older we get the less impact our memory of Jordan (or others) has; part of his greatness will be lost in time. Sure there is video footage but the footage/records do little to convey the meaning and emotion that took place when Jordan "did his thing".

This mystique guides our perception of players today. It would be hard to look at this objectively if you were exposed to MJ in your lifetime, or any other of the greats (Russell, Kareem, Magic, Oscar). The younger generations can see the footage but have no idea of the make-up of the league or quality of competition in those days. Players like Lebron are, in a way, unfairly compared to players from a different era. If you wanted to objectively look at this you'd have to take into account every variable. Which is impossible. A statement like "who is the greatest" is a subjective question. Greatness is an ambiguous term that means different things to different people.

After all how do we measure or accurately portray intangibles like will-power or clutchness or leadership? Sure we can compare numbers left and right but any stats created were uniquely created. Where the player was standing, what he ate that day, his opponents, the weather, fathers dying, politics, wife, children. All I'm saying is there is more behind the stats than meets the eye and to look at this objectively is almost impossible. If you were to use stats to "objectively" measure clear favorites and list them accordingly than you'd fall short because of the immeasurable intangibles. Jordan wasn't considered the best ever because he was so great he could defy the laws of physics (though you'd think so after some of the things he did), Jordan's talent prepared him for the opportunity that the universe (or god if you believe in that) gave him, the opportunity to be the greatest ever.

To become one of the greatest ever doesn't just require championships, or record breaking stats, or dominance of your opponents, it also requires that you steal the audiences hearts and emotions. Make them believe in you and root for you... then win. This is the way to become great.

Honestly, Lebron has become somewhat of a comparison to Jordan but not as an equal but sort of as his usurper. This villainizes him in some aspects and people will have a strong reaction to this. However, you get a certain amount of supporters who will defend him because they see what is obvious, immense amount of rare talent. Jordan is loved by all, Lebron is hated by most.

One of the greatest of all time Lebron? It shouldn't be important to him. Everyone will have their own list of who were the greatest players anyways. There is no objective answer. I say good. This would be a less interesting subject if it were a factual list that you could just go look up. The fact that he is considered by most is as much as any other player is getting. Placing top 4 is a subjective exercise.
