Please remember: Manning is NOT God

    Hall? duh, 1st ballot
Greatest ever? No, maybe 2nd or 3rd but certainly not better than Joe Montana
God? We all know Chuck Norris is God so lets not kid ourself

    The early money poured in on Denver. I like Denver(hint fade alert). But there is one very important piece of the puzzle you must figger out before laying a woody on this one;
-ESPN told us 73 times the Pats did not ever touch Manning, so we all know that.
    - Seattle WILL touch Manning. They get pressure quickly
    - Manning went to secondary receivers and even 3rd options aLLL day vs the Pats. He will be throwing 1st option passes or throwing it away vs seahawks.

As you dissect the props I would figure in that he will probably be closer to 55% competitions vs the seahawk defense and probably be in the 250 yard range or lower.

    Got it.

Manning for 60% completions, and to throw for over 300.

    Done.

Thank you John for the very helpful analysis. Prop bets are where the money is Super Bowl Weekend. I think your right, Denver might win this but Manning will not be throwing for 3-400 yards in this one. I expect a decent amount of QB Sacks and interceptions.

Yeah and NE was missing 5 defensive starters in the game after Talib got blindsided by Welker. Might have been a different outcome with those players and on target Brady. Thinking Seattle will slow down the Sheriff in that environment and win the game. Should be close.

    Tough game IMO.

I can see both quarterbacks having a rough day and if that's the case Seattle will win.

I would like to see manning gets his 2nd ring though and if he does he will arguably be the best ever.

Thank you. I am feeling more confident that denver will win....now that lakerboy and sbr_john don't believe in manning.

2nd year QB's dont beat veteran QB's like manning unless your name is tom brady and have spies stealing signals.

Proabbaly last chance for manning to win superbowl....NFL will make sure he wins his 2nd superbowl. Referees decide most of the games in NFL.

    Why would you like Denver?

I can't, for the life of me, figure out what advantage the Broncos have in this matchup.

I would normally agree with you if all else was equal. It's not. Not even close. Seattle is a far better overall team than Denver. I guess if Manning is enough to cancel all of that out in this matchup and overcome an elite defense, so be it.

And while we are being reminded that Manning is not God, I'm not saying Seahawk defense is trash, they are not, they are not the second coming of the a) '85 Bears or b) '86 Giants

Houston had the third best pass defense in the NFL.

Comparing Houston and Seattle pass defense numbers is interesting....

Houston allowed 59% completion percentage--- the same as Seattle.

Seattle allowed roughly 175 yards per game--- Houston 189 yards per game.

Manning went off against Houston---throwing for 397 yards.

In fact, only 2 QBs threw for over 300 against Houston this year. Brady AND---wait for it----- Manning.

Manning threw for 397, Brady for 325.

For seattle, beating 49ers was the superbowl.

    Experience is huge in superbowl.

People are over-reacting to seahawks just like they were for 49ers last year.

Better team doesn't win superbowls. Teams which play well on that day wins superbowls.

Besides seattle hasn't been that great on the road. Their home field is their safety blanket. Outside of that they are vulnerable.

Denver will win here no coin. Sharps have already pounded the opening line.

Sea was 6-2 on the road. Barely lost to indy and sf. Dem was 6-2. Lost to indy and ne. I mean how could sea possibly be the better team on the day.

    You're right.

Seattle's defensive stats are hyperinflated because they didn't face many good throwing QBs.

It's easy to get fat when they faced 2 decent QBs all year.

You know how many of the Top 10 NFL Rated QBs Seattle faced in 2013?

I really fail to understand the whole getting to the QB argument.

The Pats are arguably just as effective getting after the QB than Seattle is, they had 4 more sacks this season than Seattle. Also, the Seahawks only have 3 sacks in the playoffs.

Call me crazy, and yes, I'm a big fan of Manning, but I see him absolutely shredding this defense using the entire arsenal of screens, picks, deep routes, slants, etc.

This Seahawks defense is a bunch of thugs who really need to take a beating to help them get a glimpse of reality. Although they played great this season, I've never seen opposing teams complain more about being held, interfered with, cheap shots, etc.

People point out that Denver hasn't seen a defense as good as Seattle's this season, and while that may be true, I can guarantee the Seahawks haven't seen an offense like Denver's this season, I mean, they are statistically the greatest offense to ever take the field.

I love how vyomguy points out the fact that inexperienced QB's don't win, unless of course you're Tom Brady and having the entire opposing teams gameplan spied out. Btw, I'll still ask when Brady will be able to win a ring without an elite defense, tuck rule, and knowing the opposing teams game plan? The answer is never, and Manning will seal the deal in two weeks, when he leaves no doubt even in Brady lovers minds that he is head and shoulders above Brady.

It's pretty common for a team with a couple of wins to be great statistically in pass defense. They fall behind on the scoreboard and teams only throw on them on 3rd and long. Not the case here because Denver will not be able to run.

I agree with the poster who mentioned this is a very tough spot for Wilson. He really needs to get first downs or Manning will wear down the seahawk defense like he did to the Pats. Seattle could win this game with their defense IF they can give them a little rest.

Not fighting it.... I will probably skip betting the side. I like Denver but it's a coin flip. The Pats could not match up, thats a given. But figure in four sacks and a pick and Manning going 19-34-1 for 248 yards and who knows? He struggles against this D but Wilson will struggle a little more. The Under is the play even though its fighting history.
