This is why Soccer is my favorite sport to watch.

commercials between scoring and kickoff and first snap of drive and people get injured all the time so more commercials, many of which are for the nissan rogue
soccer is very relaxing tv product (but am just not as into it)
60 min running time os while there in the huddle walking to the line of scrimmage ect. is included in the 60 min
There has been an excessive amount of commercials during the playoffs... I would DVR the games during the regular season but I'm too into it with my Niners to wait

ok i get what you are saying but in football a lot of that downtime is important, look at manning, hes basically playing the game at the line of scrimmage for 20 seconds.
football still the best to bet on by far

11 minutes of actual playing time is generous. it's more like 8 minutes. you can't count time time that lops off walking back to the huddle or those ridiculous gyrations manning goes through on every play. i put a stop watch to a game once from the time the ball is snapped to when the tackle was made or pass was incomplete or player went out of bounds. 8 min 41 seconds of actual playing time. no nfl player should ever be tired playing in a football game.

As an Australian, who prior to watching the NFL and NBA was used to getting at least 40 minutes of consecutive action without a break longer than 30 seconds it can be incredibly frustrating to watch some NFL sequences.
Player injured --> 3 minute break --> Next play Field Goal --> 3 minute break --> kick off for a touchback --> 3 minute break.
Can drive you insane.
yeah i tried watching football but cant, its literally drives you insane as guy above said
i once tried watching 2-3 games at the same time, and there were so many commercials in the games that they overlapped and most of the time i would just sit there and watch 3 different commercials at the same time
i just cant do it, this stuff is unwatchable, and all us sports just like that, unwatchable because of all the stoppage time and commercials
Avg play is what, like 8 seconds multiplied by something in the range of 130-150 snaps if you're lucky.
Thats a whole lot of filler to get through in a 3.5 hr timeslot.

Live football is for idiots. Move into 2014 and get a DVR. I didn't watch the last Super Bowl until July.

ill take you one step further, hire a guy that will go through the recording, delete commercials, timeouts, stoppage etc and leave you with pure game to watch
i wonder what would be the demand for a channel that showed porn during breaks instead of commercials

I dont watch games on DVR, thats your thing.
I prefer not to have someone spoil it for me,before I get a chance to watch it.

actually for the regular season, if you have NFL RED ZONE, there is no reason not to leave that on from 1:00-7:30. no commercials ever, switch from game to game is fluent and organized. host knows his stuff. there has never been anything better in the history of televised sports than this service if you can follow all those games at once.

I just saw this on Reddit yesterday. Not news at all I always knew the ACTUAL playing time was low as hell.
I completely agree on the soccer comment though, by far the best sport to watch IMO.
I watch football for the commercials.
