    Book Complaint

    I have a serious gambling problem. I informed the book (A+ rated) in April of 2012 that I needed my account to be closed in light of this.

    Here's the response I received:

    ------------------------------
    "Hello xxxxxx,

    We have sent your information for the next update to close the account. We are unable to refund any transaction you have done in your account.

    Wishing you a good day!"

    -----------------------

    Well, Nearly 2 years later I have lost 10's of thousands of dollars to this book. I know many (if not all) will say that it's my own fault for continuing to play. I agree, but the sole reason of having my account closed was because my addiction was uncontrollable. I played at 2 other books. I made the same request of them. I went as far as begging Bodog to reopen my account and they said ABSOLUTELY NOT.

    These books advertise the "Responsible Gaming" initiative on their website. Are they not obligated to close accounts when these problems are disclosed?

    Just go to GA Meetings guy and get away from sports betting forums or anything related to it

    Yeah, I have no self restraint. That's why I was proactive in asking my accounts to be closed. I think it's kind of shitty that someone on the other end saw my request come through, analyzed it, determined I was extremely profitable from their standpoint, and didn't close the account.

    I actually had made 4 or 5 requests for them to close it prior to receiving that email response from them --- several months after my first request.

    I dont know why you expect them to refund any money, mate just leave it and stop gambling and carry on with your life, work and try and save has much money has you can.

    I just sent them another request right now for my account to be closed. There's $1,000 in there. I hope they close it and return the $ to me.

    unfortunately closing accounts will not make you stop. If you do not get treatment you will be gambling again and just get new accounts. There is too much gambling out there to close all doors . Also there are drugs you can take to take away addiction, see your Dr. GA meetings work but you have to go every week forever. Good luck guy and I hope you get your money back.

    I've never looked into but I have always assumed sites have a self-exclusion process. Am I wrong and have you looked into it?

    open second accounts at the books ,will require a second email address, then inform them you have 2, they will close both

    Just lose it intentionally and forget about it. Then go get some help somewhere other than here. Family is a good start.

    I tried taking prescribed drugs to control gambling urges, it worked but then I started becoming addicted to porn so where do you draw the line?? I hope it works out for you young fella.

    would you tell us the licensee of the bookie?

    edit: contact the licensee of the bookie anyway and report them, that's the highest chance to get your money back.

    there are too many places to gamble - too many places to drink - too many places to get drugs - if you have a problem with any of these addictions don't go to the source(sportsbooks,bars,dealers) to help you. even if they are suppose to help or not. you really don't want help if you ask for it from the source of your problem. i guess i also don't like the idea that someone's weakness is used as a reason why gambling,drinking,doing drugs should be illegal. i also think anyone who asks to close the account but goes back is always freerolling or he would go to another sportsbook. tired of the idea it's not my fault i couldn't help myself i have a problem. we all have problems and we alone are responsible for all of them.

    They did not close my account as requested. I ended up losing the $1,000 that I had in there. I ended up being able to make 2 more deposits this weekend.

    Here was my message:
    I requested that my Heritage account be closed several times in 2012 in order to prevent me from accessing online gambling. In April 2012, you promised to close my account. Ticket is 9280. We have sent your information for the next update to close the account. We are unable to refund any transaction you have done in your account. Since this request, I have lost thousands of dollars with you.

    Here's their response:
    What is the issue with the account at this time? Normally we don't close accounts, they go innactive on their own after 3 months of no activity. If you don't deposit it goes off on it's own. If you call for a name we are not going to decline the request. There is nothing in our rules that indicates that we do not accept deposits from customers who claim to have gamblong issues.

    So you made deposits this weekend on top of the $1,000 in there. What if you hit a huge payoff with that deposit, then would you want the money refunded? I get you have a problem, but it's almost like you are trying to freeroll the book. If you win keep it, and if you lose claim they did something wrong. Not gonna happen.

    Nope. I lost the $1,000 because they didn't send it to me like requested. Then I re-upped, lost, and re-upped again (and lost again).
