Should be the best job opening available...but it appears the Lions ownership will never change. Guess that's what happens when the owner invented the model T.

He already failed at Oakland and punched out his assistant coach in the process. Who would want a hot-head like that trying to resurrect a franchise.

I don't see why Jim Haslett's name never comes up for openings?

    Former coach of the year.

Vikings are a quarterback away from being a serious playoff contender. I'd rather go there than Detroilet

If Greg Roman and SF hang another 30+ on GB, Lions need to grab him. All he does is torch GB.

Would like to see Tom Cable get another head coaching job, guy head a decent last season in Oakland and shouldn't have been fired.

Lovie Smith the only employable black coach.

The only reason anybody would bring Jim Caldwell in is because the NFL forces teams to interview under qualified black coaches through their racist policy. Call it a token interview for a joke of a coach. He had an awful year this year and should lose his job.

Niners won't let him take the whole team with him though.

Lions have Stafford, Megatron and Reggie. Plus, they should draft a WR high. Maybe he even steals a guy from SF.

If the Lions got a John Gruden type coach they would instantly become the favorite to win there division next season. Just amazing how they let all that talent go to waste. Whomever they select it better be a strict take no BS type of guy.

Couldnt agree more with slimpickens. Det lacked the mental toughness and discipline it takes to be successful and that was a reflection of schwartz

Gruden seems like a great fit. I just wonder if he's still got "it". I'm not sure if he has that fire in his belly anymore.

Oh? You don't like him? I thought the offense looked solid despite missing your #1 weapon Crabtree all year.

Gruden has the fire that will never change. ESPN gave him a golden spoon.... and he's weighing the pros and cons.

As for the Lions organization who selects these past coaches... it seems they just select the first person who has an interview. I'm serious. Put on your favorite suit... and smile... and you're in. It's all about them calling you in for an interview. Period.

Wish the Raiders kept Cable but they don't know the meaning of building a team. All these teams have no idea, they won't win shit and the great franchises will continue to be good. The rest will sit on the bench and hope to be good someday.

Lions need a strong personality to hold everyone accountable. Not a dictator type like Schiano. More along the lines of a Tomlin, Wisenunt or Boles. As bad as he is a hc, Norv would be a good fit as oc.

Lovie Smith is over rated . The guy doesn't have any emotion . I need a coach with a little Rah Rah in his blood . Tampa Bay screwed up, get some one with some fire.
