Frazier seems like a decent enough guy and maybe a worthwhile DC, but like so many HCs he's not HC material.

I didn't think he was that bad. Ponder and a miserable OC did him in. Rule #1 of being a head coach or good leader/CEO is surrounding yourself with good people. He failed there.

Minnesota has gotten really close. If hurricane Katrina hits Minneapolis instead of NO then the NFL calls the title game in for of the Vikings and they're in the Superbowl. Gary Anderson is perfect all year and puts the FG. Minnesota makes the playoffs fairly regularly, Detroit and Cleveland don't.

Minnesota is getting an outdoor stadium, I think. Next hire for them will be big. They need a Qb and a coach with experience. No more of these Leslie Fraizer, Mike Tice, Brad Childress types.

GM Rick Spielman needs to go. Fraizer didn't have much talent to work with on that team. Maybe 4-5 quality players.

Wrong. Name one bust under Spielman besides Christian Ponder. He's maybe one of the best NFL GMs right now.

Trading up to get TarJack was pretty bad. He wasn't the GM then but had his hand in that. Overall he's made some good moves and has had good drafts. Ponder set them back 5 years though while AP was in his prime.

I'm disputing how much he was involved in the Tarvaris Jackson deal. Besides, that was almost 8 years ago. Try again.

True...he started right after the 2006 draft. I'm agreeing with you though. He's had good drafts overall. Gotta have a Qb or the team won't go anywhere...the Freeman move was rough, but that may have even come from Wilf.

Vikings are close. They've lost 5 games this season with under 1:30 left. They aren't far off from being 10-6 in the playoffs again even with the shit sandwich they have at Qb.

    Completely agree.

They have to get this one right. With the new stadium and getting the pieces in place.

I'll concede that the QB situation has been a conundrum for the Vikings for as long as I can remember. Sure they squeezed a good year out of Bret Favre, Jeff George, Randall Cunningham, Warren Moon, etc all in their bleakest twilight years. But Culpepper was their only true franchise guy going all the way back to Tommy Kramer and those were dark days for the Vikings. It's a clear problem, but it's a problem that maybe goes all the way back to the post-Tarkenton days. I guess the case can be made that Brad Johnson should have never left too.

As far as today, with Freeman-Ponder-Cassell, might as well take a hard look in the draft and have a steel cage match next training camp. Hopefully somebody can emerge stronger due to that kind of trial by fire. As for HC, seems like they've gotta get a QB guru type, too bad the Andy Reid scenario didn't play out one year later than it did, that's the perfect type for what they need going forward.

49ers OC Greg Roman is a great prospect the Vikings need to take a hard look at. If they want to go D, maybe Lovie?

Disagree. The GM has failed miserably at the most important position in all of sports. Why does he get a free pass? And I'm not saying Frazier is a great coach. But Spielman was 100% tied to Ponder.

I grew up with Leslie Fraziers son. Leslie is one of the more upstanding guys out there, but he just didnt get the job done. Wish him well wherever he lands up.
