First "full" weekend of action this season (NBA, college hoops, NFL and college football at the same time), and sure enough -- like every year -- I got destroyed trying to bet all four cards.
I was up 40.9U in the NFL heading into today. Lost 10.5 units.
I was up 19.75U in the NBA heading into Saturday. Lost 4.35 units. Took Sunday off.
I was up 1.85U in college basketball heading into Saturday. Lost 7.05 units. Took Sunday off.
I was down 0.77U in college football heading into Saturday. Lost 6.55 units.
Saturday was my problem. I'm trying to cap these games at my normal pace, but it's virtually impossible with games in three sports going on at once. Saturday night is also typically a big night for my NFL research, but that got cut short and I lost accordingly today.
I'm not saying there isn't variance and bad luck mixed in here -- I had some really weird losses over the weekend. But I also know that, every year at this time, I start spreading myself way too thin, the cards get huge, and the profits start to dwindle. This is my fourth season of gambling in all four of these sports, and it happens like clockwork.
So how do I combat this problem? I know there are guys out there who, like me, regularly bet all four sports. How do you deal with the overlap, especially on Saturdays? How do you pick and choose your spots? I obviously need to be more selective than usual, but that's not really my style. I also know, though, that it's hard enough to win one bet, let alone try to beat a full card in four sports virtually at once.
Any advice would be appreciated, because I can't keep banging my head against the wall every November and expect a different result. I just don't think I have the time or energy to juggle four sports at once.
