Saban's agent, Jimmy Sexton-- "Saban would leave Alabama for Texas"

    http://www.al.com/alabamafootball/in..._would_on.html

The agent for coach Nick Saban told Texas officials in January that Texas was the only school he would consider leaving Alabama for and that his success with the Crimson Tide had put him under "special pressure," The Associated Press has learned.

The agent, Jimmy Sexton, made the comments during a 45-minute call with former Texas Regent Tom Hicks and current Regent Wallace Hall. Hicks detailed the call in a Sept. 24 email that was obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press through an open-records request.

"Sexton confirmed that UT is the only job Nick would possibly consider leaving Alabama for, and that his success there created special pressure for him," Hicks wrote.

The pressure was not further explained in the email and Sexton declined comment Tuesday. Saban was not available after practice.

Vegas, at this point.. Saban doesn't need to make such a play.

He could roll into Alabama tomorrow morning and say "Pay me 10 million a year, or I'm leaving".

He would walk out with 15 million, and the wives of every Board Member hanging from his nutsack.

Wait an Agent making a public notice that his client has other options.

    That's a first

Why would Saban leave the SEC and arguably the most successful college program of all-time to go to Texas?

Texas is the most overrated program in college football history.

    Actually it wasn't public.

The AP dug through emails under the FOI Act and found that email.

    Sexton won't comment.

And Saban was not available for comment.

I hate Bama but they already had 12 championships before he got there.

What does Texas have? I know they won in 2005 but other than that when were they ever a powerhouse for an extended period of time?

The comments on this page show the lack of college football knowledge. Ya'll bet on college football without losing?

    1) Texas earns 2 times more than Alabama does. It earns more money than any other program in the nation, more than most NFL teams.
    2) Texas has its own ESPN network, giving a foot in the door to ESPN for any coach at Texas after retiring.
    3) Texas has a stadium that seats 101k right now and is planning on expanding to 115k, which they will easily sell out.
    4) Texas resides in the state with the best recruits and gets top recruiting classes even when they suck!
    5) Texas has top of the line facilitates, some of the best in the country.
    6) Texas can pay the most for any coach and afford any coaching staff for their HC.

    What's in it for Saban.
    1) More money.
    2) The elusive three championships from three different programs.
    3) Easy recruiting, he already recruits heavy out of Houston.
    4) A foot in the door to ESPN as a cushion job after he retires.
    5) He will never take that #1 spot reserved for Bear, he knows this and may move on.

Texas is a better program than Alabama in every way.
Texas also has a total of 15 Championships, they only claim four, unlike Alabama that claims non-championship years.

Most college FB fans were taking shots at Nicky when he came to Ala... They got a BIG LOL when La Tech beat Ala

Now... they would give their left nut if he came to their school

    2000 -2009
They had one of the longest active 10+ win seasons....
And this was done by a coach(Mack brown) that isn't that great.
They also had Darrell K. Royal that taught Bear Bryant the wishbone, which allowed Bear to become dominant; however he could never beat DKR.
Texas is 7-1 all time vs Alabama.

wow, just looked up wilkepedia link and saw many National Titles they claimed were from odd various sources "Helms athletic,Billingsley, Tuscaloosa times?. And like video above Teams were crowned National Champs before there bowl games UP to 1973, even if they lost there Bowl game which Bama lost 2 and tied 1.
But What they have done since those times is still stronger than anyone else except maybe the Canes.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alabama..._Tide_football

In the 1980s Alabama, under Sports Information Director Wayne Atcheson, recognized five national championship teams (1925, 1926, 1930, 1934, 1941), and added them to the University's Football Media Guide. According to Atcheson, he made the effort in the context of disputed titles being claimed by other schools, and "to make Alabama football look the best it could look." Though the claims were made in the spirit of competition with other claimants, Atcheson maintains that the titles are the school's rightful claims.[89]

in fact glad to see my Noles now can claim 8 instead of 2!

Florida State has six other national titles that are not officially claimed by the school. They were selected as the national champions in 1980 by the Foundation for the Analysis of Competitions and Tournaments and the Rothman system; in 1987 by Berryman, the Massey Ratings, and the Sagarin Ratings; in 1989 by the Billingsley Report; in 1992 by the Sagarin Ratings; in 1994 by the Dunkel System; and in 1996 by the Alderson System. However, Florida State University does not recognize these titles.[23] In total, Florida State has eight national titles.

Yup, this is how Alabama does business! They had one coach come though and magically add like 5 titles. When Bama fans start throwing around the 15 number, I always bring up that Princeton owns 28!

If Texas was in the SEC I could maybe see it. But does he really want to play Kansas, Kansas St, WV?

Of course Austin is a great town. He can hang out and be a big fish in a big pond. Maybe its a legacy builder or just a great place to settle down and end his career? Stay tuned.

Just leave it at $$$. Because you're right about that. But quit it with the horsesh*t above.

It rarely occurs to Longhorn fans that most the rest of the country wouldn't include Texas in the top 10 storied college programs, though Alabama would be in everyone's top 3 or so.

crazy how many people can"t see why saban would do this when it's clear as day. These are the same kind of people who think mayweather actually fights contenders or think that he is going to lose on purpose to setup a big money rematch lol.... It has nothing to do with money.

If Saban does leave, either his D-coordinator takes over or Spurrier comes in and Bama wins again next year.

So you think coaches would prefer to play top 10 teams every week? They don't care who they play. They want to win. The Texas job is a better job than Alabama. More money in the program.
