    Help with line movements!

So i am basically learning and studying everyday, i would like to attempt to master this topic, or at least become very familiar with it. Will someone please tell me what to look at with line movements? What a big movement means? Based on how many people are on one side, and percentage on one side?

    PLEASE HELP

Unless you have handicapped the game with a thorough and consistent approach, line movements are slightly less important than bowel movements. For most here they are as insignificant as the day is long. That does not keep most of these cats from chasing there tail.

A big movement usually is a two flusher or go get the fukkin drumstik.

Most books move lines because Don Best Line service moves the lines on their screen

It's not based on action for most books

Just track it for yourself a while.

And while you're at it, head over to Covers and research on some past games, and see if you can find any trends based on specific line moves.

I'm sure with your newfound knowledge you'll be rich within no time.

    Best of luck.

Three out of the four lines weren't sarcastic.

The third line I couldn't help myself.

I generated a 56.9% record over 800 plays steaming CFB/CBB/NBA/NHL before most books kicked me out. You can make money tracking line movements, up to a point.

Then it becomes worth your time learning how to become a modeler.

Brett...can I ask what some of your parameters were for "steaming" in terms of how much of a move, or how many books needed to move? And I assume you were using Sports Insights or Don Best?

Money moves lines, not public percentages.

Personally, when I cap a game, have less than 35% of the public on my side, and my line gets less favorable over time is the ideal situation.

First, Don Best does not set any lines. They report lines. Don Best is NOT moving the lines.

You need to know why there is movement in a line. You need to watch certain key books that give a tell on which direction the line will finally move to. People who just bet the same direction the line moves will not be long term winners. There is much more to it than that.

Lines move very rapidly as a reaction to new information.
Due to a random nature of both reasons behind new information and timing it becomes available,
it is impossible to accurately predict line movements.
It is also very, very hard to analyse meanings behind moves fast and accurately enough to be able to profit from it.

Personally, I din't see any reason to waste any time on it.
At best, one can simply try to "chase steam" which, when done properly, can have +EV

So a perfect example is tomorrow's Akron vs Central Florida game. Game opened at 28, UCF favored, but dropped to 21.5 even tho te public is on UCF at about 80 %

    What does this mean??

Line movement is not as profitable as it once was. You can still cherry pick and win some . The only problem is when you chase steam and then it goes the other way just before it is off the board and too late to bet it. You already know you lost. Look at late money instead and watch odd lines that make no sense.

Where did you see it opening at UCF -28? First BIG lesson, know exactly where it opened at and what the limits of that book are on those early lines.

Next, more important information to know is not the % of the public is betting on a team, but what is the percentage of money is being bet on which team.

Where was the -28 posted at and when?

I'll ask again, where and when did you see -28 for UCF?

If you can't answer that, you entire premise is false.
