Bucs still need another bat to compete the entire year. F-ing management needs to make a legit move this year, not some Derek Lee bullshit. Wish list should include:

    #1. Cody Ross
    #2. Carlos Quentin

Ross is more cost effective and maybe even a better player at this time. Either is an upgrade to go with McCutchen & Tabata. The pitching on this team is plenty f-ing good enough to win the Central. C'mon damn it .... f-ing 20 some odd years and you are in the mix for the 2nd straight year approaching the All-Star Break. Learn from last year's bonehead moves ....

I'd rather they sell off this year and continue to build for 2013,14,15 ect.

their arms will fall apart in july/aug/sept just like they did last year.

they don't need any rentals. yeah, LEARN from last year's mistakes... Lee was pretty focking good, but got hurt.... Ludwick sucked... they went on a huge losing streak right after the trades...

Bats are actually carrying the Bucs in June... but they won't keep up and they'll return to mediocre pitching and sub par bats and be 10 games under .500 by sept 1 easy

Pitching is much better equipped to maintain with Bedard & Burnett this year. McDonald is really the only one I think is pitching way above his pay grade. Others are performing in the neighborhood of what they usually can do.

I assume they are still going after a bat, rumors said thet checked in when Youkilis was available ... if they'd go after him, cannot imagine them not making a run at someone better. Also saw they might be interested in LaHair ... Correia is going to get moved one way or another.

What about the freak show that is Pedro Alvarez? 52 hits. 28 are doubles or homers. 81 Ks. Modern day Dave Kingman.

McDonald pitching above his pay grade for now (till he gets paid) but advanced metrics show he's not really due for any large regression whatsoever. He's just finally coming into his skill, not smoke and mirrors like beachy with the luck he was having this season before his arm blew out. Shows what dropping your walk rate will do for you

Hope you're right. Amazing what happens when you aren't walking half the lineup and giving up HRs to the rest of them like he did last year. Pitching much more like he did when he first came over to PIT from LA. I think this team is going to be loaded with pitching at the major league level in the next couple of years if the youngsters pan out. I saw both Gerritt Cole and Mark Appel pitch at the college level and they were both really solid. They will contribute somehow. Taillon also looks to be the real deal. Those could be the staples in your rotation for the next decade if they pitch to their talent level.

If they can develop some extra bats either via development or FA signings .... this team is going to break the under .500 streak and they are going to be contending through the end of the season, not just through July.

I don't think they will sign Appel due to his agent, the stupid rules, and the amount they are already spending on their top 10 picks...

I think they knew Appel wouldn't sign. They want the extra first round compensation pick they'll get next year.

they already have 2-3 waves of prospect pitchers coming.

as for hitters. Starling Marte at AAA shows flashes of McCutch type 5 tools in the outfield... I'd like to see him get a full year at AAA, and maybe a september call up. Guy was unreal this year in spring training, so I think he can make the 25 man next spring.

Robbie Grossman also shows flashes of Brillance and is in a few top 100 prospect lists due to his fall ball power and walk rates... He sucked all year, had a suspension and is coming alive in june now finally.

couple power hitters at 1b in AA and A+ in Matt Curry and Alex Dickerson.

Low A Sally ball West Virginia is where there are a handful of diamond in the rough latin players... they are mostly all 19 year olds playing against older kids. They hit a lot of extra base hits, and steal alot of bases.

one of these names will be a star in 2016... Hanson, Osuna, Willy Garcia, Gregory Polanco, Taylor Lewis...
of course the GEM of the WVU team is injured... Josh Bell, whom the Pirates stole in the draft after Gerrit Cole, and bought him away from going to college. He was top 5 pick if he hadn't told everyone he wouldn't sign... but pirates made him a huge overslot offer he couldn't refuse...which along with guys like Theo and Beane made MLB change the rules...

Pirates got a ton of pitching depth in AAA and AA... unproven types that will prob end up being AAAA types, relievers and 5th/6th starters..

jeff locke, Rudy Owens, Justin Wilson.... could be trade bait...

I'm just hoping on Appel that he tells Boras to go f himself at some point, otherwise he's going to be sitting on the side for a year until the draft next year and could repeat the entire same scenario except that from what I understand - the pitching pool is even deeper.

yeah this was a weak draft. and Appel might not be top 20, even IF he doesn't get hurt....

    Boras needs to die

I love Cutch and all, but the HR derby losing Stanton really sucks. And I also hope his swing doesn't get messed up; it's happened many times before.
