I have been involved with baseball my whole life, a buudy of mine works in the front office for the Astros, another buddy of mine writes for the Twins, Fangraphs and others, here's the thing, all major league organations have stupid reasons for holding good players back.
Cashman did it with stubbornly saying Hughes is better, and always will be better than Ian Kennedy, just because Cashman has a hard on for fast ball hitters, when it is a known fact in the baseball industry that Phil Hughes is a head case, doesn't listen, and my Astro buddy says Phil Hughes has the worse work ethics in MLB.
Advanced scouts said Ian Kennedy is a "poor man's Greg Maddux' and will have by far the better career.
