Hey everyone just had a discussion with some mates about the biggest upsets in history we came up with these

Can't remember the date on this one but a horse on the trots won paying @$215 it's last 3 races were 7th9th12th
It had never finished higher then 7th in something like 12 races.

Next one was boxing the first fight James Braddock won in 1933 against the number 2 heavyweight contender with no training and only a days notice of the fight.

And third Boston coming back from 0-3 down to make the World Series in 2003 I believe it was .

Now I know there are many we may of missed such as Wigan winning the fa cup etc.

So my question to y'all is what Is the biggest up you know? it don't have to be in terms of money won but just the fact that it should not of happend in a million years

The Americans have never really been that great at soccer, or football, whatever pleases you. Basically, they have never been that great at moving things with their feet.So when they were able to defeat the English team 1-0 at the 1950 World Cup, many fans who had heard of the news stateside had to be shocked, especially considering the team were 500-1 shots to win the game.
Not to mention, they were outscored 45-2 in their last seven international matches.
this one has to be mentioned also

Rafa losing to Soderling at Roland Garros is one big upset also ... considering Rafa is 59-1 at Roland Garros

    1. Upset beating Man O' War in 1919 for the only defeat of his career -- why we call things upsets in the first place has to be listed.

    2. Buster Douglas over the seemingly invincible Tyson in his prime is one I'll never forget where I was when I heard about it growing up.

    3. Elin over Tiger with a 3-iron. Woods won 14 majors before this incident. Hasn't won one since.

Right before this fight... wasn't Mike Tyson in some financial turmoil? He owed either money to the IRS or some sort of debt. If I remember correctly he made almost the same amount of money just by showing up... to fight and taking the loss rather than winning. Point is... I really think this fight was a fix. Not one imbecile was on Buster Douglas. If you were... you were in the 7% group. Vegas made a killing on this fight and I'm sure Tyson received some sort of compensation for taking the fall. Only obvious.

As for my biggest upset. Detroit Pistons VS LA Lakers 2004 NBA Finals. Public kept on hammering the Lakers in every game. And the public eventually got hammered. Huge win for vegas in that series.

This might not be the biggest upset of all time but being a buckeye fan it was one of my favorites. Appalachian State 34, No. 5 Michigan 32

greece winning that tournament in general probably the biggest shock ever for me. All these other examples were just 1 match but Greece's was multiple games won that ended with a championship. Beating the host Portugal twice, beating a France side that was stacked and won the previous Euro Cup as well as finalists in 06 World Cup.

Last CFB season, I correctly banged a 135 to 1 Texas State over Houston...

    http://www.sportsbookreview.com/forum/college-fo...l#post15860132

That was my biggest cash. After that, I hit Buster Douglas at 36 to 1 (it was 44 to 1 earlier that day) and Holyfield over Tyson at 25 to 1 (it was 42 to 1 early).
