You know who is an underrated player that doesn't get enough credit?

    Allen Craig.

1000 big league at bats (next week he'll be at 1000)
Every offensive number so far is superior to league average.

.302 in the bigs so far, .350 OBA is well above league average.
Has big league power 22 homers last season in 119 games

    Plays good defense at first............

Kid just came up big again aginst KC.

Couldn't agree more. He's the main reason the Cardinals couldn't care less about Pujols anymore, and he goes about his business in a very unassuming way.

but doesn't it still mean that he is just a shade below a "replacement player" ie common bench fodder?

but more to the point I was asking, his OPS is quite high, so why is his WAR so low? is he Dr. Strange Glove out there?

he certainly isnt a plus in the field but he doesnt make bad plays and he goes wherever cards need him, beltran needs day off he plays a corner outfield spot, hell early on he even played 2nd when cards were trying to find a place for him (that was a disaster tho)

What is OP talking about? Anyone who watches more than 3 cards games a year knows how valuable he is to that team. I guess OP is stuck in 2005 thinking that his hero is gonna win another MVP some time soon.

Yea I read an article during the Spring that Craig was a NL MVP candidate. If you dont know about Allen Craig then you are not a baseball fan.

Brenden Ryan is truly an underrated player, as all of his value is derived from him being "statistically" the best defensive SS in MLB for the past three years yet never winning a Gloden Golve. Proving that winning a Golden Glove has more to do with your offensive capabilites, even though it is exclusively a defensive award. Alos the best way to win a Golden Glove is to win a Golden Glove in a previous year.

Goldshimidt has huge platoon splits offensively, and only plays one position defensively. Craig has roamed the OF, as well as holding down 1B.

I have expected more from Craig this year. He is hitting for average, but lacking power. The underrated player on the Cards is Matt Carpenter. His swing and miss #'s pl;us his Strikeout #'s are @ a career low. OBP and batting average have been raised since last year. Great table setter, and multi-postional player defensively.

Cards could be the next dynasty, all that young pitching.
Wacha has not been sharp at all and he's sitting on a 6-2 lead.
Shelby Miller is already a stud, team is stacked with young talent.

troller? lol. Yeah I mistyped though, win is putting it too generously. "Steal" describes it better.
