Angels Pitcher brings back the FORK BALL love it

Robert Coello was a nobody relief pitcher who finally perfected the famous long missing from the game Fork Ball. I love seeing this pitch come back I remember Mets Dan Frisella making it his out pitch he teamed with Tug Mcgraw(screw ball) to form a really good bull pen. I tried throwing this pitch the whole time growing up lol it's great to see this back as part of the game. Kind of acts like a knuckler the ball is placed deep in between pointer and middle finger and thrown like a fast ball it kind fo acts like a knuckle change. Kids got 18 k's in 10 inning and maybe found a spot in the bigs.

I think there are a few pitchers still throwing it, but they call it a Knuckle-curve instead? Parnell throws it. Ron Darling was jerking off to it the other day.
Darling actually threw it when he pitched I believe too.

this is more like a fork-knuckle. it's pretty wicked. i think he's throwing it at ~80mph.

Unreal, ump prob thought it was in the dirt and went off the catcher's shin guard. Right down the middle. That's a nasty pitch.

Used to throw this all the time growing up. Sick pitch. Not sure why more pitchers don't use it.

Of course never threw it nearly as well as this guy, but still very effective.

Fork ball is nothing close to a knuckle curve.

fork ball is like a faster knuckle ball that rotates a little more than a knuckle.

very hard pitch to hit but also hard to throw for a strike

Man that's a great read right there. Good stuff. Never even heard of the guy and he had one of the best seasons EVER in MLB history. Should be nominated multiple times for every baseball fan to enjoy.

what he's throwing isn't really a forkball; The forkball is thrown more like a splifinger though slower and and more downwards move like a change. Generally all four Fastball/Change/Splitter/Fork all have similar looks and spin.

Looking at Cuello's grip he's not hold like a forkball either, while its similarly far between his fingers he doesn;t throw it with the fingers off to the sides on the ball, one finger is closer to the top of the ball while his index finger is much closer to his thumb (similar to a circle change)
