Has there been a better hitter than Miguel Cabrera?

The guy gets it done every single time. It's impossible!

Geezus, LB -- thousands of players? Really?

I've been watching baseball for over 30 years, and he's definitely in the Top-10 for guys I've witnessed. I'm not saying he's the best ever by any means, but that's just an asinine counter. The guy is an absolute machine. He's great at going to the opposite field, and his mechanics are something every student of the game or up-and-coming player should watch. Incredible how balanced he is through a swing, how still he keeps his head, how dominant he can be when in the hole at 0-2, etc.

To say "thousands of players" -- I just can't tell what your posts are about anymore. What's happened to you?

I'm good coin. I treat the site the same way it treats us.

As for miggy he is decent but yes thousands of players have been better than him. How did he do in the big show last year?

You used to be one of the sharpest cats here. Now it's like you're just trolling all the time. I don't get it. I remember when your 25x plays were money in the bank, and extremely rare. That's when you actually had the time to pay attention to lines, matchups, late movement, etc. Then you got busier with your business, started posting and showing up less, and all of a sudden, you're dropping 25-50x plays like there's no tomorrow. That makes zero sense. And when you're not doing that, you're posting stuff like this. You honestly, seriously believe that "thousands of hitters" have been better than Miguel Cabrera? You watch baseball. You know the game. What kind of statement is that?

I know you claim at times you're being paid to post by SBR, to drum up traffic, throw out wild plays and make outlandish statements, etc. I always used to laugh at those posts. Maybe I should take them seriously. Because you are a shell of what you used to be here.

Through 1,553 career games, Cabrera’s numbers are eerily similar to Hank Aaron’s, if not better in most cases. The lone category that Aaron betters Cabrera is home runs, 347 to 329, respectively. Cabrera boasts a better batting average (.320 vs. .318), more RBIs (1,165 vs. 1,137), and a better on-base plus slugging percentage (.958 vs. .943).

In addition to these numbers, Cabrera touts one feat that Aaron never accomplished: Winning the Triple Crown. In 2012, he became the first player since Carl Yastrzemski in 1967 to take home the elusive title.

Maybe you've been paying attention to different plays than I have, because from the time he started tracking plays in a spreadsheet (which he stopped doing), it's been an adventure to say the least.

Like I said, the weirdest thing is the 25-50x plays. He hardly ever posted those when he was winning all the time. Then he starts struggling and all of a sudden he's tossing them out there like there's no tomorrow. I don't blame posters for thinking it's just air, because I have a hard time believing he could truly be putting that much in action without winning more than losing.

When you lose $2500 20 times out of 30 it's a pretty damn good size number to almost everyone.

    Pujols in his prime.

He is the only player in baseball history with 30 home runs and 100 RBI during each of his first 10 seasons. 3 time MVP

Through 2012, Pujols ranked in the top 10 players in major league history in three statistical categories: slugging percentage (fifth), on-base plus slugging (OPS; sixth), and OPS+ (tied for ninth with Ty Cobb).[179][180][181] At the end of the 2012 season, he led all active players in batting average (.325),[182] slugging percentage (.608),[183]and OPS (1.022).[184] Through 2012, he ranked among the top 10 active players in doubles (ninth), home runs (fourth, behind Rodriguez, Thome, and Manny Ramirez), RBIs (sixth), and runs scored (ninth).[185][186][187][188] Pujols has a .994 fielding percentage at first base (through 2012), and he set the major league single-season record for assists with 185 in 2009.[4][189]

Plus he hit what I think is one of the most incredible home runs in the history of baseball.

The Astros on their way to the world series, all they had to do was retire Albert.

Up by a run, this was supposed to be symbolic of their ability to finally beat the Cards in the playoffs.

    Then Pujols happened.

    http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=19665675

Granted the Stro's recovered and won the next game to get to the series, but I bet the Cards wouldn't have let the damn White Sox sweep them...

I don't know how you compare great hitters across generations (to say that one is definitively better than another), but it's fair to say that Miguel Cabrera in the elite tier and currently is defining what that tier means in a post-PED world. It's a real pleasure to watch (except when he plays the Tribe).
