Good info. Seems to be a different ratio on the annuity/cash options, some are over half some are under half.

for example there is no state tax in Cali for the lottery winnings over Washington where it's close to 8% I think...
it's a humongous chunk if you win hundreds of millions

You must understand lots of people believe that someone with 100 tickets has better chances(100 times better in fact) of winning than someone with 1.

The odds I think are about 1 in 175 million if you buy 1 ticket but if you buy a 1000 tickets the odds are 1 in 175 thousand.

    Um, they do.

if the odds are 1:175,000,000 to win and you buy 1 ticket, well then those are your odds.

if you buy 100 tickets, your odds are 1:175,000,000 minus 99.

    Yeeep.

Steps in order of what to do with new found fortune.

    1) Shit on boss' desk.
    2) Buy a new car
    3) Buy a new woman
    4) Pay my wife to deal with new woman (the alternative is obvious)
5-73) General degenerate purchases and wastes of money

..... This is where the plan really comes together.

    74) Purchase the Phoenix Coyotes
    75) Take whatever cash I have left, make a syndicate, fan out across the globe to recollect the purchase money of the Coyotes via point shaving/fixing during next Hockey Season.
    76) Own hockey team free and clear. Hopefully am still allowed to reside in the US.
    77) Play more lottery.

I guess it could be 1:175,000,000 minus 100 but I think the one is accounted for in the original odds.

so while I'm fairly sure it's minus 99, it could be minus 100

    what do you think tto

Another big reason I wouldn't want the annuity that no one has mentioned is you would be trusting this program to be solvent for 30 years. Where the government is involved that's a big risk

There is no % added to the annuity first off, and if you can't double the lump sum in 30 years, that's just sad. There really isn't much risk Centaur, they only pay out like 40% of all ticket purchases, a lot of dumb people play these when the pot is 50 mil.

I realize that, but that can be done in less than 24 years with 3% return/yr. I want to know what the 8% guaranteed return is. I'm serious, I want some good investment ideas
