    Accountability

Whats good boys? OK, so many of you have seen me blow up on multiple occassions here. Let's just say I have done it again, but not going to get into details.

This has to stop, and I'm going to use this thread as a reminder and form of accountability. I will check in when I get the urge to gamble, and will myself away.....any support would be appreciated. I will admit I have a few future bets going now, but there's not a thing I can do about that right now.

May 1st is day 1 towards a healthier, more financiallly stable lifestyle.

This article sounds exactly like a dozen that I wrote on 2+2 and pegcityhustling a bunch of years ago.....except that in mine I never talked about quitting gambling, I always talked about being moderate.

One thing I can tell you is that it is possible to change. It is possible to curb those feeling....but you have to be serious about it, you ahve to really want to become a better, more moderate, more accountable person with the ability to walk away.

The biggest thing is the desire to change added to age and experience. People ask me how I did it....I wish I knew, I guess at some point in the last decade I finally started to mature.....if you are out of gambling for good, well to that I say cheers and good luck.....and if you are going to try and moderate yourself better.....then you can always send me a PM and GL in tht as well!

sounds to me like you are trying to quit gambling. If this is the case, might I suggest spending time on forums which might be conducive to such a goal?

Looking for support in quitting gambling here is probably akin to a crack head looking for support in a crack house - probably not going to happen. And if it did, how long would it last?

take up a new hobby - I suggest knitting.

SpreadSniper.....actually, I've already gotten a few PM's with advise I would have had a tough time acquiring elsewhere.
There are good people in here who are dealing with similar issues, who can offer sound advise.

Being able to knit could come in pretty handy!

If you can't lose money but feel the need, start betting them betpoints, find a way to scrunge together $200, and you can get all the action you want, risk free.

Just don't have $200 to send it....or else I certainly would. Thanks Bro.

regul8er, if gambling is making your life miserable. it is time to quit.

the best way to quit is keep telling yourself, you can't win at gambling...

you can't win at gambling... you can't win at gambling...

sounds too simple but you can brainwash yourself into anything. gl

I know this sounds gay but approach it philosophically. If you're losing or have lost a lot of money in the past, then before you place a bet remind yourself of the things you could be using that money towards that are for-sure things. Sure, you can make a small amount of it back, but chances are you'll lose it all eventually.

    Gay! Lol

    Just joshing Dugger....

But really it isn't that easy. It has nothing to do with money. We are adrenalin junkies and betting is our high....winning is great but, unfortunately losing also can satisfy the high.

I lump myself here with everyone because I understand it.....at the same time I believe you can learn to control it, but damn is it hard (not talking about the donkey on the beach here).

If somebody needs to quit they need to remove all temptation completely. Don't even drive home close to a casino, don't go drinking with friends at a pub with video lotto and don't read these boards any more. The fact is that 95% of bettors here are losing money, but as an addict on a bad run it will feel like everyone but you is winning and you will want to get back into it....if not immediately then eventually.

That's my take anyway...this all from a gambler that has had a handle on it for years, but one who remembers saying ' I will never do this again' about 500 times.

Then why do you always tell people that their money is safe at offshore books like 5Dimes and Bookmaker? Why would we care if our money is safe if we are all going to lose it gambling at the end?

Ralphie.......about a 10 week binge betting on credit. I was up $1,600 after the first two weeks, betting mostly Conference Tournies in NCAA. Then it went bad. I had my account closed on Sunday night, being down $4,600. The high majority of my bets were to win $100, so you can see how badly things went. Everytime I tried to take a stab and bet a few hundred, it went up in flames. I counted over 100 bets in my last week, and I'm thinking somewhere in that range each week in the last month.

Completely controlled my life. I was betting the latest games on the board, and getting to bed by 1:30am, only to be up by 5am to check scores of the tennis matches I bet after being on tilt and not thinking logically. I made my biggest bet Sunday night on Denver ML.....who crashed and burned in Golden St....didnt even give me an effort. My worst loss was a push. I had Cincy/Philly under 8......and the game got cancelled in the bottom of the 9th at 0-0. Also had two +1.5 run lines on visiting teams who lost on a 2 run and grand slam in extra innings sick! I had Brooklyn +6.5 in the 3OT loss Saturday...brutal.

Well I don't have that kind of money, not even close. I'm lucky my brother does, and is lending me the money, and I will pay him back over time as it becomes available. So it's critical I stay away, or I'm completely screwed, because we cant win.

Gambling can kill us.....it really can. My wife doesn't even know the details. She figures something is up, because 24 hours a day my face is barried in my phone. I'm such a fu(kup.

And I have two pending future plays for MLB......A's under 84.5 wins, and Indians under 77.5 wins.

Neither really looking good right now.......I need a split there or I'm royally screwed in October.

that is why betting on credit can be dangerous.

if you ever wager again, do it with money you have.

but definitely sounds like you need a break.
