On July 1, 1970, Tommy Helms was first Cincinnati Reds home run in Riverfront Stadium.

    Ever see him play defense?

Former Cincinnati Reds closer Clay Carroll was once asked, "Who would you want at second base when the game was on line?" He promptly responded, "Two words, Tommy Helms."

I was in Little League when he was winning all those gold gloves in the early and mid 70's.
    That trade was ludicrous.

Geeeez Nash you that old bro? had no idea. In any case I had no idea as to the answer of this question. Baseball must've been worlds different back then. More about the game, less business and contract signings.
