Not for nuttin', like we say in Staten Island and environs, and not like it figures to stay dere or nuttin', but da score in da Red Sox game is like, uh, 4-1 Red Sox (okay, after only four innings, but whatever).

Not for nuttin' and not like I'm trying to draw attention to it or nuttin'.

But just kinda pointing it out.

Sweating is for degennies - I went for a walk, came home to find the score an 8-2 final.

Won and pushed on the total, won the side, and did great on the rest of the games (but I didn't want to lose face with MikeJamm by admitting to too many plays).

This is a great country (as long as you don't live somewhere else).

Thanks for the kind words, Minnesota.

Now which one of us has too much time on our hands? Me for posting a play here, or you for noticing the score in the ninth inning of the first game I ever touted on this thread?

    Both, I guess.

Say, who do you like in the New York Mayoral primary? You got Weiner vs. Quinn. You got the exhibitionist vs. the Demon Dyke. I'm thinking of nominating Mike Tyson on the Independent line, does he live here?

Sharp line on Weiner. But that's only because Mike Tyson can't run, he's probably ineligible after that bad luck he had in Indiana back in the nineties. Tyson's better qualified, he never resigned from Congress for sending stupid texts.

Come to think of it, word here is that Quinn figures to beat Weiner, she's got incumbency (current City Council President) and a strong machine. But every thinking voter hates her for the way she betrayed the electorate on term limits, and how many voters, period, want to see that on tv the next four years (eight years)? Bad enough you have to see her at the DMV!

How about Jason Kidd, as a write-in?

When you have money to buy the extra innings baseball package you can watch 8 games at 1 time. Some people have the luxury of posting bets, surfing the net, AND watching games! ( I know, that may hurt your head) I couldn't tell you who has more time on their hands, but I can tell you sit here and ramble on about useless, and most of the time, gibberish bullshit. Sure it was entertaining for your first 15 posts but now that you've surpassed 30, phew, good luck in life bud.

Really the only reason I posted that was because I think its pretty funny that you keep coming back to a thread that has been dead for 2 weeks to talk to yourself, or as in the last case post a bet, only to come back and TOOT.... TOOOT on your horn

    Hey Minnesota,

You would have to get smarter to become a moron.

You have no idea why I come here, I'm not certain myself.

Probably for some of the same or similar reasons you do (too much time on my hands, craving what passes for human interaction in the year 2013).

I did not really think I was tooting my own horn (like immodesty is a serious flaw in the year 2013) but let's provide a little more entertainment to the audience and I will turn you into my sparring chump, challenge you to a week-long handicapping contest.

I'll go first with a west coast game tonight: Boston Red Sox, + 104 (I'll check what Five Dimes has it at currently, we can use their numbers).

Minnesota has many ace Americans, Dylan, Al Franken, that senator who died in the plane crash, Prince - hope you're enjoying eight ball games a night in the Land of Lakes. Who you on tonight in our Handicapping Challenge?

Any of you other popcorn-fressers with too much time on your hands, feel free to join.

I don't think 2D2 will get too pissed, like you say, the thread's been dead for two weeks anyway.

Like playing touch football in a mausoleum, this could be fun.

Red Sox over the Angels, $100.

    - OSP

PS: You do have a point, I come to this thread in part to talk to myself: You think it's easy to find someone as interesting to talk to as me? (At the risk of tooting my own horn).

PPS: The real reason I come here and post on this thread, you've led me to realize, is to try to keep some it alive in case D2D does decide to return. Kinda like an emergency DJ called to cover 'cuz the regular guy took sick. I'm just trying to fill the dead air.

And if a little Professional Wrestling Style Trash Talk amuses you and the popcorn - munchers who check in periodically to see if D2D has posted, I'm happy to do my part to entertain them.

Who you on, pussy? Or don't you bet any of those eight games you watch on your seven tv's?

    Lucky me.

I lost the game but I got a bad beat story out of it.

Red Sox leading 7-3 going into the bottom of the ninth. Angels score four runs to tie, Angels win in extra innings.

Going with Oakland today. Money ball.

    Athletics: - 134 $100

Oakland won a laugher yesteday, up six runs or so from the third inning.

Today we short Oakland, go with Pittsburgh (+103)

    Running Score: Even

Today's Play: Pittsburgh Pirates (listed pitchers): + 103

Day Four of Inaugural D2D Challenge Cup:

Going with a monster underdog, Chicago White Sox + 235 (against Justin Verlander).

Score to Date: - 100 (Pittsburgh lost to Oakland last night, 2-1 - bet against Moneyball at your own risk!)

    - Guess the former readers here aren't too enthusiastic about thinking for themselves, or if they are, they don't want to post a play here. Or perhaps my trash talk was too ghetto for the refined sensibilities of the SBR / D2D readership.

    Go White Sox!

    Thanks for stepping in, Tanko.

I crossed over in the D2D Challenge Cup from minus to plus yesterday. White Sox taking a monster +235 (went 20 cents higher later) stayed tied with Verlander at 1 through seven innings, than posted a seven-spot in the top of the seventh or eighth.

    Going with a D2D special today, Under 9, + 110, Milwaukee.

D2D had a theory about these mid-week afternoon baseball games.

    Score to Date: +135 (Tanko + 20)

    Thanks for playing!

Won a tough game today, under 9 in Milwaukee - score was 6-2 after 6 and-a-half innings, turned out it stayed there.

Dedicated readers of D2D's thread will recall that he liked going under on mid-week afternoon baseball games, it was just this theory he had.

Sovereign: Great post, explaining what happened. And you're right, even Atlas couldn't carry the weight of all the world's degennies, you've got me laughing now to type this. SBR suicide, it happens in even the best families sometimes.

Who you like tonight or tomorrow, Tanko?

    Good going, Tanko!

I promised another D2D mid-week MLB under, I'm going with the Yankees today. Last night Five Dimes was dealing 8 1/2, total has dropped to 8. It's a low number but I doubt that would have deterred D2D, so: Yankees, Under 8, - 110. Week to date: +235

    Rockies (+150).

Dodgers played 14 innings yesterday at D-backs and then traveled home. Got to be tired but pumped since they won with back to back homers in the 14th. w/ Pomeranze (Rocks) and Capuano (Dodgers) pitching, I like the over 8 as well but they will likely get pulled early and things could go to the pens which should favor Rockies, at least tonight.

Tim L. No Hitter, 9-0 SF

Good way to end the Challenge, no - hitter and a 9-0 win.

My result for the week was +203, counting the first game as no action, I went under 10x but the line on Boston-Oakland was down to 10 by the time I posted, so I counted that as a tie.

Mike Jamm, Tanko, others, feel free to enter: Just post seven plays, doesn't even have to be seven days in a row (but it's better if it is), I set the bar in plus territory but not very high, win more than 203 for the seven days (100 buckarooskis per play, I used the lines from Five Dimes) and you displace me as holder of the D2D Challenge Cup.

If we keep the thread going until football season there's an outside shot D2D will return.

Or maybe Tanko will get hot, and that will be almost as good.

I'll post any strong leans I have.

I'm going down to Atlantic City, need some of that old poker and pole - dancing therapy, don't know why I didn't think of it earlier.

Just back from AC, poker there was great. Much easier than handicapping.

D2D has left a legacy of a community for his fans and followers. We can still post here when we have a side we love, keep the thread alive. This thread is one of the first of its type I ever followed even casually.

We could all psychologically deconstruct D2D's motivations, why he disappeared, not even a fare-thee-well or "I'm going on leave." Sovereign put it well here recently when he speculated that the weight of the world's degennies was more than he could carry.

Interesting to speculate then on why he felt compelled to try, why he took the trolls so serious, why he didn't want anyone to follow only a portion of his plays.

Must be something in the early childhood.

    Thanks for the suggestion, Jay.

    My first reaction to Jay's suggestion was, an OSP thread? That's a serious long - shot (10 - 1 to 50 - 1 range).

Then I thought, you bring the 420, Jay, I'll 'cap the games. Gangsta style.

PS: I will come up with a few games here and there, but keep 'em in this thread. If they're winners (and some of them will be influenced by what I learned here from D2D) I want them shared with D2D (in the unlikely event he's stalking here) and his long-time followers.

If they're losers, then who needs 'em?

Finally, I was lucky enough to be a small winner (about 20% on handle) over the course of the single week where I posted a pick every day here, why f up a winning record?
