Ok well now the Tubby firing makes complete sense. RP JR is an outstanding young coach and is actually going to have some pretty good players to work with right away.

RP JR has been game planning w/ his dad during the tournament. Actually he suggested they set a high ball screen before running the pick and roll's against duke and... well you all saw how effective that was.

    Appreciate the insight.

I am looking foward to having a young guy run the show.

Tubby was coasting his last couple years here.

He's so hungry to win, I mean look what he did w/ FIU. ALmost took them to the big dance, losing by 2 to WKU in the Conference Finals.

He learned from his dad and Billy Donavon. The way the players respond to him just shows me how good of a recruiter he would be.

Get ready for the for the talent level to fall off a cliff. Tubby is an awful coach, but he had better players than Minnesota was used to.

Is a good hire for everyone involved. RP Jr should bring some optimism to minnesota. Overall a good sign of the direction the program is wanting to go, even if he wasn't the first option on the list. Time will tell.

His first job is too make sure the Hollins brothers, Joe Coleman, Wally Ellenson & Charles Buggs all come back.

Which shouldn't be a problem coming in w/ his resume and the Pitino name...

Agreed. Talent might fall a tad.

Talent will be fine, he will hire a strong staff.

Teague has already hired Shaka Smart and Anthony Grant (two of my favorite coaches in the game)

He's a very good AD, and Pitino JR can now be added to that list.

Since I saw this under the NBA thread I thought you initially meant the Timberwolves and I was like "WTF?". Yeah he should do fine at Minnesota, and by fine I mean they should make the NCAA tourney next year. His dad taught him right.
