I just can't get over a home blowout loss to Illinois. That 11 point win doesn't do justice to how dominate Illinois was in that game.
I usually like them, but as a one seed I gotta hate.

they were 5-0 vs. big 12
    3-0 vs. St Mary
    30+ wins
they get to the sweet 16 for sure

    they beat kansas state
if wiscy slows them down and controls tempo, they could beat them
but i think i got the Zags in the elite 8
    they stop there

    OhioState is a little better
Steve Alford will have all the answers if New Mexico gets there

Pitt ain't beating them. Zags aren't that bad. Pitt is garbage. Could be Wisconsin, although Zags matchup okay with them. Zags got very luck, West is by far the weakest looking bracket. In my opinion Zags are the weakest #1 seed, Ohio St is the weakest #2 seed, KState looks like the weakest #4 seed (you could argue Cuse being weaker).

ive learned that this board....like most of the public is hooked on big name schools

the funny thing is that pitt cant win in the tourney when they actually have a good team and now theyre unstoppable

as a Pitt fan and a Pessimistic one, i'm generally down on them in general.

I can see how from a purely 1-5 matchup standpoint, that a potential Pitt vs Zaga matchup could be difficult for the Bulldogs.

especially looking at Olynyk vs Adams mostly with Zanna and Taylor at times as well.

of course Pitt needs to get by Wich St. as well too.

you have to beware of falling into square common public perception thinking in these Tournies.

IE. Pitt always gets knocked out early. Or Zaga always overachieves

    a) look deeper into history if you into those sort of trends
    b) you gotta look at THIS year's matchups most of all

Wisky is always a good bet to make the Elite 8. Seems like they make a deep run every year. I still think Wisky is a top 10 team, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if they came out of the West region.

Yeah, but didn't Illinois hit everything they threw up in that game?

Not sure what you mean with the first 2 sentences. Wisconsin last made the Elite 8 in 2005 and usually get bounced early because their methodical style doesn't matchup well in the tournament.

St. Mary's is decent but the rest of their conference is trash. St. Mary's is a borderline tournament team. Wait until that dazed and confused Canadian big man starts playing basketball against black people. 50% chance they get past the 2nd round. I really doubt they win 3 games.

If they were in the Big East or Big 10 would they be better than Syracuse or Notre Dame? NO.

Zags are pathetic. Really pathetic. Worst #1 seed I've ever seen.

Good thing you don't know much about basketball.

Wow, OP predicted they wouldn't win the National Championships! Way to go out on a limb there.

They won, they were rusty and Southern were on fire... there have been other close 16-1 games you know.

Even if Zags blew them out, I'd still stand by my statement that Zags are one of the worst #1 seeds I've ever seen. I live about 5 hours from Gonzaga's campus, I watch a lot of them. They are overrated. Put them in the Big Ten and they'd probably finish 4th or 5th at best.

Agreed. They would struggle playing big 10 teams every single game. I really don't think they would finish top 5 in that conference.

I've seen them play a lot as well, their front court is one of if not the best in the country.
Southern was hot (they would have schooled Pitt today too), Gonzaga was rusty.

We will agree to disagree, all that any team needs to do in any round is win, Gonzaga did that and got a scare.. a perfect wake up for them to be ready for Wichita Saturday.
