Allen was generating so much publicity after he led the Raiders to the Super Bowl in 83 it actually made big Al jealous.
Al had Marcus benched and relegated to fullback duties during one period, and he wasn't used that much and yet Marcus still won the Raiders team MVP award, as voted only by the players themselves, year after year.
Basically, it boiled down to jealousy.

Marcus Allen isnt worthy of wiping the sweat off of Walter Payton's nutsack.
You want TD passes? Payton threw 8 of them. 2 more than Allen.
And Payton played on Bears team that were awful, with the exception of 1985 of course.

It's funny. Allen played until he was 37 years old, yet it is Walter Payton that holds the NFL record for most All-Purpose yards.

Payton couldn't hold a candle to Allen in terms of versatility. That's a fact not opinion. You say Allen played longer than Payton but the fact is there was 2-3 year period where Allen wasn't even used that much because big Al was jealous of him. For example, in 1989 Allen started only 5 games and in 1991 he only started 2. Despite this, Allen still has more career total touchdowns than Payton does, 144 to Payton's 125. Allen has more receiving yards than Payton as well, 5,411 to Payton's 4,538. Originally Posted by SamDiamond

allen and faulk definatly... they played in the 80's-90's time period... that in-between era where the rules of the old timers were still in place in combo with 99% of the guys all jacked up on roids
before that, the game was slower and bodies were softer ... now a days, everyone is 260 lbs, 4% body fat, running the 40 in 4.2 secs... but you cant tap anyone any other place then the center of the chest, or you get a 15 yard flag and a 50k fine

There's only 1 guy on that list arguably better than Manning and Brady and that's Montana. Anyway Tomlinson played way less years than your boy allen and i'im pretty sure he has him beat in tds, yards, you name it. Rex Ryan fukkin ruined Tomlinson's legacy. Everyone just skips over LT. Guy was a workhorse in both running and passing game. Him and Faulk are the best two rb wide outs of all time.
