    John Fitch is out of UFC

    This is crazy...The guy's 14-3-1 in the UFC (with losses to GSP and Hendricks)...why would they cut Fitch?

    The UFC pulled a surprising move on Wednesday, but it had nothing to do with a fight no one expected. Instead, the UFC gave the pink slip to several fighters, including one former title contender with an impressive UFC record. According to MMAFighting, these fighters have been cut:
    Jon Fitch
    Wagner Prado
    Mike Russow
    Jacob Volkmann
    Vladimir Matyushenko
    Che Mills
    Jay Hieron
    Terry Etim
    Paul Sass
    Jorge Santiago
    Mike Stumpf
    Simeon Thoresen
    C.J. Keith
    Motonobu Tezuka
    Josh Grispi
    Ulysses Gomez
    Though Fitch fought and lost to Georges St-Pierre at UFC 87, he is 1-2-1 in his last four fights and has a reputation for putting on grinding, slower-paced fights. Jacob Volkmann and Mike Russow have the same reputation. Santiago went 0-2 in the UFC, left and won one fight, then lost again over the weekend. After putting together an impressive run in the UFC, Grispi lost four fights in a row in the UFC.
    Every one of the fighters is coming off of at least one loss. In the past, a fighter would worry about his job if he lost two fights in a row. However, MMA Junkie's John Morgan says the UFC is looking to trim its roster. With fighters coming over from Strikeforce, and the addition of the men's flyweight and women's bantamweight divisions, the UFC is going to have to make more tough decisions like this. Fighters have to win to keep their job.

    True, but the only reason he's a mega star is because he keeps winning. Hasn't put himself in danger to finish a fight in years. Not knocking his ability, but he outclasses everyone he steps into the octagon with, yet doesn't finish. Josh Koscheck had one eye open for 3-4 rounds and not an attempt to finish. Dan "Prelim Unless it's a UK card" Hardy, GSP dominated and should have taken his arm home with him. The last time he came with some fire was prob BJ or Serra.     Ridiculous cut. UFC used to pride itself on having the best fighters, now all it seems they care about is casual fan entertainment. Especially considering the recent title fight match ups with fighters coming off losses.

    Also, his fight vs eric silva was one of the best on the card. I hope he is picked up by bellator.

    the new question becomes....is this like any other sport where the best athletes/fighters are chosen or is this ticket sales/business....

    I think Dana is realizing that many of these "top" fighters he has wernt as TOP as he thought, however, you cant just fill it in with bums/no namers and expect it to be the same...a lot of these dropped fighters were atleast trained out of a good camp....now who fuckkn knows....

    I mean dont ride PAUL SASS"S rooster....then jump off board when last call shows up LOL....i mean...come on....

    If its about tickets...bring back Tim Sylvia, Kieth Jardine ect....

    Gimme a break UFC...ballator is making a push...now this....bad timing...
