Jay, you don't have to go all-in. In fact, I highly--self shoutout, recommend not doing it. One $300 win or loss won't break you. Give it a shot. Ignore all of the small ball stuff, such as races, table games, etc., and just hone in on your top sport and scan the whole week, not just a day. Try and circle a few schedule spots where a likely fav is going to be in a tough spot. This is easier to do in NHL. This week try and narrow down two to three dogs. GL man. Use the forum's NHL prowess...some great cappers in the subforums. El Nino is good too. BOL>

Jay, you're not on the track to last 6 months my man, you're lucky to break even 1 at this rate. Already down about 20% of your bankroll and you're STILL paying for drinks? -EV to pay $20 for drinks no matter if you win or lose while only betting $10 a game. This is a spot where you have to roll the dice, got to do what Cuse said, all in on one game. Spread or ML -175 to -250 range, you have to get up to $3,500 so you can start betting more per game and win enough to pay to live. Personally I'd find tennis (LVH?) and push in on some early round favs.

It's always good to hear TT Warrior chime in. That said this is an awesome read. I think SBR should sponsor Jay and lets see how long he can last in Vegas.

Hey man, not sure if you've heard this or anything (Only ready first three pages and this last one). It looks like you're spending a lot on drinks. LVH Sportsbook is where you need to go for this. Free drinks if you show a ticket. Bellagio used to be like this as well, but last time I was there they seem to have changed it to a drink ticket system, because she asked if I'd be paying cash or ticket when she came back ($6.75 beer) (or the cocktail waitress that day was just a bitch). Believe me I am really trying to tone down on the drinking. And being a small time bettor, it's hard for me to handle the swings when I lay huge, which is rare to begin with.
I am at the Monte Carlo right now in the sports book waiting to fill a few more hours in the poker room.
I really need to get a pair of shoes, I can't believe how much walking I have donw. On the accomodations side of things, I walked up Paradise & found some more respectable places that were reasonably priced. I found this place called Terribles! The health nuts here at SBR will be happy to hear that with a players card (which I got today) the breakfast buffet was $3.99 (with all you can drink).
It's $32.99 Sun-Wed & $50.99 Thur & $99.99 for Fri & Sat.
Still a little pricey but, not bad.
Then I took a right on Harmon & found a place called Rumor. 24th-28th $48 per night. Next door to that there is a place called the Americana that looks just like the scum hole I'm in now but I'm a 5 iron from the HRH. Much nicer part of town.
The final place I stopped in at was the Alexis. It's $54.88 (taxes in) Sun - Thur & $66.08 Weekend.
So when rent is up in $H|TSville, I'll be deciding between one of these places.

There's no doubt now that I have to lay off the table games. And the Horses.
Terrible's has a sportsbook with $5 minimums & it has a small poker room.

I had to buy new socks cause like a dummy i only packed 5 pairs.....

Book online. Terrible's is advertising $20 a night rooms. Also if you are there try the coffeehouse Food is better than the buffet and they usually have some $2.99 specials.

Also last time I was there LVH was not using drink tickets. As long as you had an active bet they were serving. That was a couple of years ago though so may have changed. You should really get down to Fremont St. I think you will find the deals and prices more to your liking.

i didnt go on their site but if it's 20 a night then check what the difference is and ask a front desk clerk what it would take to get the online discount or better....you have two things going for you here

1) you could tip them and try to get them to hook you up (20 at a place like terribles would probably put you in business)
2) you might not even need to tip....second/third tier hotels are hurting right now so there can be a lot of negotiating at the front desk of some of these places....if they dont rent a room to you then it just sits empty....and it seems that the lower end places have a LOT of empty rooms

i never knew there was another terribles either but if they have some sort of corporate rate management then the whole thing's off....but it won't stop you from trying it somewhere else

just one guys opinion but i dont necessarily agree with going all in

what i do think is if you focus on just a few games that stand out and increase your bets to whatever you're comfortable with that would be a better strategy....of course in the first two rounds of the tourney i could see betting a few more games but not going crazy

all of that said its gotta be nuts being in LV and not having action on something if theres events going on....easier said than done
