Odds Alabama & Saban Suspends these guys?

We're about to see how much shit Saban will put up with...

    http://m.espn.go.com/ncf/story?story...FB&w=1cluf&wjb

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- A former five-star recruit for the Alabama Crimson Tide was arrested for the second time in two days and was among four freshmen who face charges of second-degree robbery or fraudulent use of a CC stemming from Monday arrests.

Eddie Williams, who was also a safety in high school but did not play a down at his listed position as a receiver for Alabama in 2012, was first arrested Sunday on a charge of carrying a pistol without a license.

According to a police report acquired by at least two Alabama newspapers, Williams admitted to investigators that he physically assaulted another man "and rendered him unconscious" on campus Monday morning at 3:21 CT at Bryant Hall dormitory. Williams then stole a CC and used it for several purchases, according to police. The report said it was used at a vending machine.

Defensive end D.J. Pettway (second-degree robbery), and linebackers Tyler Hayes (second-degree robbery) and Brent Calloway (fraudulent use of a CC) were arrested Monday along with Williams, according to online records from the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office.

In addition to the apparently unrelated Sunday gun charge, Williams faces second-degree robbery and fraudulent use of a CC charges.

According to police, Williams, 20, said he was accompanied by Pettway and Hayes, "both of whom he stated were involved in an earlier robbery with him, as well.

"Both subjects stood by in a vehicle, with knowledge of his intent, while he committed the crime," said the police report, obtained by the Birmingham News and Tuscaloosa News.

The report said the alleged victim suffered "several lacerations to the face, mild concussions and severe swelling."

All four were released from the county jail Monday night on bonds of $65,000 for Williams, $60,000 for Pettway and Hayes, and $5,000 for Calloway.

An Alabama athletic department spokesman, reached Tuesday morning by TideNation's Alex Scarborough, said the school was withholding comment at this time. Campus police told The Associated Press questions should be referred to university relations.

Pettway was named to the All-SEC freshman team for his work at defensive end, recording 2.5 sacks and four tackles for loss.

Hayes, a former four-star linebacker in the 2012 class, had 14 tackles, including two in the Crimson Tide's BCS National Championship rout of Notre Dame, with most of his work coming on special teams.

Calloway, arrested for marijuana possession in 2011, played in 12 games as a redshirt freshman. He started off the year at linebacker before moving to H-back, where he carried the ball 10 times.

Williams was also arrested Sunday. A separate police report says that arrest stemmed from an incident at a convenience store in which a clerk called police and told them Williams was "acting erratic and threatening that he had something in the trunk of his vehicle after a dispute about paying for gas."

The clerk told police Williams and other occupants of a vehicle the player was sitting in the back of "left the store and began messing with something in the trunk." The car was later stopped by police, who say a gun for which he did not have a license was found on Williams.

Typical thug self-destructive behavior. I hope they don't take their scholarships away though because it will end up costing us more to feed them in jail where they will surely end up (unless we are lucky and they get killed first).

Suspended? These guys are gone for at least a season and off the team. Assaulting students and robbing them is frowned upon by the school. See Jason Berryman.

    Four Alabama football players arrested

Four University of Alabama football players were arrested and charged with second-degree robbery following a pair of incidents early Monday morning. Linebacker Tyler Hayes and defensive lineman D.J. Pettway were charged with second-degree robbery while defensive back Eddie Williams and running back Brent Calloway were charged with second-degree robbery and fraudulent use of a CC.

According to the Tuscaloosa News, Williams and Hayes admitted to attacking a student, punching him in the head and face and kicking him in the back and rib area while he was unconscious. They stole the victim’s backpack, which had an Apple laptop in it.
Williams said the group committed a second robbery where he punched the victim in the face while Pettway and Hayes watched. Williams stole the victim’s wallet and used the student identification card to buy snacks from the vending machine in the football player’s dorm.

This is the second jail stint for Williams this week. He was charged with carrying a gun without a license on Sunday.
“A clerk in the store told police that Williams came into the store and was acting erratic and threatening that he had something in the trunk of his vehicle after a dispute about paying for gas,” TPD Sgt. Brent Blankley said in a release. “The suspect and other occupants of the vehicle left the store and began messing with something in the trunk. The clerk then called the police.”
Police found the car, stopped it and searched Williams, who was sitting in the backseat on the passenger side. They found a gun in the back of his pants. He was arrested, charged and released on a $500 bond.
All four players were backups during the 2013 BCS National Championship game.

UPDATE: Alabama athletic director Mal Moore released a statement on the matter:
“This is a very serious matter and we are very disappointed in the actions that have resulted in the charges against these student-athletes. In this type of situation, the Athletics Department works in conjunction with the University. We will have more to say at the appropriate time.”
Coach Nick Saban also put out a statement, saying the players have been suspended indefinitely, via AL.com:
"The young men charged are indefinitely suspended as we continue to gather information and talk to the appropriate people. The University and football program have strict guidelines regarding issues of this magnitude. This behavior is unacceptable for any student-athlete at the University of Alabama and not representative of our football program."

Alabama has more 3+ star prospects than they have roster spots. They did Saban a favor by clearing roster spots for the new guys.

I do agree that they are pieces of shit who need to head to jail.

Second degree robbery can carry up to a 20 year prison sentence in the state of Alabama.

They won't be spending any more time in dorm rooms in Tuscaloosa....free housing else where in Alabama will be their fate.

    Dumbass thugs.........

What dumbasses. Saben should take the 4 players to the football field and let the rest of the team beat the stupidity out of them. What fools throw their lives away for some snacks and laptop.

    I agree Roy.

Most of the 120 football players who represent Alabama are class individuals trying to do
    the right thing.

You can't spell class without ass. Unfortunately, there are a few asswipes on every team
    these days.

True that workhorse. Most student athletes are putting in hard ass work with football and school and trying make something with the chance their given. But then like the saying goes you can take the boy out of the hood, but you can't take the hood outta the boy.
