Would you consider competitive cheerleading a sport?

Reason why I bring it up is the High School up the street from me (Fairfield Conn.) won the state championship this past weekend.

The 2 1/2 minute routines they perform are intense, it's not pom poms and splits like the 50's, these routines are kind of like gymnastics.

If one considers gymnastics a sport, one would have to consider competitive cheerleading a sport, right?

They can call it opera if they want, as long as they keep doing splits.

They have to. There's some good reporting on the topic with how it's run. It's a big f'n scam and the athletes are basically proper f'd if they get injured. If they declare it a sport, it does 2 things. Opens up the door to better health care in case of injury and also opens up more slots under 'gender equity' for schools to bring back things like Men's Wrastling. It's actually a really interesting topic to look into. I think most of these athletes are morons for doing the things they do whilst it's still not considered a 'sport'. It's a joke and it's all a money grab.

girls that r hot dancing = sport

stripping = sport in most cases ... not easy to do splits across 3 guys while stroking 3 of em at the same time + giving a bj to a 4th guy standing ..

Come on drinker, you know how athletic they have to be to do some of that shit. It isn't like bowling where any fat fck can get off the couch and do it.

Okay...they compete against multiple other teams. They train, need strength and physicality, endurance, skill and athleticism to win a competition. Don't know how it wouldn't be considered a sport but I'm not gonna argue anymore about something I couldn't give two shits about.

Pretty simply concept really: things become a sport when pinnacle offers lines on it...

    table tennis
    starcraft
    WSOP
    Quidditch World Cup

Competitive cheerleading lacks betting lines so not a sport...

If you cannot defend against your opponent it is not a sport. It's that simple.
