But he had previously registered for the state's 2-year-old self-exclusion program, in which gamblers acknowledge a gambling compulsion and agree that they "shall not collect any winnings or recover any losses."

WTF! Why would you join a program where your losses are gone by can't collect if you won! Guess that's why this dumbass shouldn't of been at the casino in the 1st place but this program is a joke.

usually people are forced into signing up by a spouse, parent, child, etc.

but you're right, it's quite foolish to sign up for a program in which your losses are losses BUT you can't keep any winnings.

wow! can that hold a supreme court ruling? it makes no sense.. the casino takes no responsibility and takes your money.. if they lose, they collect back.. imo, the only way this is fair is if they HAVE TO prevent you from gambling.. if not, they are just collecting free money for life from the compulsive gambler..

poor guy.. but gambling is a sickness..

The dude who got robbed for 64k must be on suicide watch, he lost his shirt a year ago and got on this shit program then went back a year later and won 64k and has to pay back the winnings bc he signed up for that shit program

Yes it makes sense. Don't you think he is learning the hard way that its not worth it for him to gamble? The thrill in gambling is the potential win, he has no upside for him to continue to gamble.

Taken directly from the self-exclusion application:

"Do you understand that if you gamble at a New Jersey licensed casino during any period of self-exclusion, you cannot collect your winnings or recover your losses?"

That's gotta be the absolute worst program ever, basically every addicted gambler will still do exactly what they had been doing and just hope they dont get noticed, meanwhile the casino would've never "spotted" this guy had he lost his ass

The poor guy couldn't get a break and was forced by his family to sign his rights away. They probably thought it was a program that would keep him from stepping foot in a casino. But it wasn't and he got screwed. I don't know how long it had been since he signed the agreement, maybe he thought the time was up.

If it was me, I would call JJGold, he would know how to handle the casino management.

I get the idea of the program, you turn every casino into a Cascade and nobody would play but fuk this guy is addicted to gambling at casinos he's not thinkin about some form he filled out a year ago he's wanting to play some blackjack

The truly sick thing is he could've lost everything he had allover again except if he got lucky and won like he did he wins nothing, fukin sick

Ya gotta think if he was really tryin to get away with somethin he would've left and cashed out his chips a little at a time rather than show his ID and shit to make a big cashout, this dude had no idea they were going to keep all his winnings

i actually believe for most addicted gamblers the subconscious desire is to lose. otherwise there's no reason to play a million times on a game like slots with no mathematical chance of winning in the long run.

"Some psychologists feel that compulsive gamblers can't quit while they're winning because they actually desire to lose their money. They say this is an expression of a desire for punishment for tensions and conflicts in their lives. In other words, on a deep psychological level, these gamblers want to lose all their money so they can reach a state of despair which, at the root of it all, was provoked by a past action that the gambler has not resolved. The flaw in the plan occurs after the loss. When this happens, they are usually tempted to increase their wagers in an effort to regain their losses, leading to more trouble."

Oh my, someone with a keen sense of literacy like me! I see this mistake half a dozen times a day on this forum. It's common everywhere, of course.

I believe the root cause of the problem is phonetics. In speech, many people use the contraction "should've" for "should have" in sentences like "I should've gone to the beach today." Phonetically, this correct form of speech sounds like "should of," which leads people to use the incorrect term in writing.

It is "should have" or "should've," not "should of."

It is "shouldn't have been," not "shouldn't of been."

the reason why this program doesn't make sense is that it only favours the casino. i am sure if he lost 64k, the casino wouldn't say, oh yes, sir, we realized you are not supposed to be in here so here is a cheque for all the money you lost here over the past 10 weeks...ya i am sure they would be so generous...F#$$ THE CASINOS

So with all the security cameras, facial recognition software the casino didn't know he was there for 10 weeks until he had won 64K, I call bull shit. If I was a casino I would love this, there's no reason for me to ban him, or call it up until he wins.

some onus has to be on the casino to "prevent" him from gambling otherwise it's a big con job.

How much did he lose before he won the 64K, does he get his loses back? Here's a "usa licensed" casino taking shots at players legally.

Sharp post, they let you play and wait to see if u win or lose, if u lose then continue on losing no problem if u win they confiscate the winnings what the fuk, gotta be the worse program ever. This dude prolly dumped his paycheck the previous few weeks and then got red hot one night and the casino decides to pull this BS. So basically if a slot addict comes in and blows all their money that's fine, but if they hit a jackpot the casino keeps the money
