Stony Brook -1 over Vermont
This is a very good America East match up with two very good sub major programs.
Stony Brook 13 and 4 overall, undefeated in conference play at 4-0
Vermont, usually the beast of America East sits at 11-6 overall and 4-1 in the league.
Stony Brook has played the tougher schedule, they lost to Sacred Heart at home back in November, how that happened I have no idea, because Sacred Heart (up the road here in Trumbull Ct.) is trash. I'll forgive that early season loss, but still, Sacred Heart? Really? For shame!
The other three losses were 'good' losses. a seven point loss to Maryland, a solid Terp team, a one point loss to Seton Hall, and gave UCONN everything they could handle before losing by nine.
Stony Brook has beaten everybody they should beat, soundly, and plays up to the big boys on the schedule.
Vermont has a tough gym, I get that, Stony Brook is 7-3 on the road.
Cats are having a down year by their standards, only team they played was UCONN, and they got blown out there. Their SoS is 306, there are only 347 teams.
Both teams won't light up the scoreboard tonight, but Stony Brook has the edge in PPG, FT%, FG%, defense, rebounding, coughs up the ball less.
Vermont has the deeper bench, that's it.
