RG3 named Rookie of the Year

After a season of standout performances by rookie quarterbacks, Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III was named the NFL Rookie of the Year by Pro Football Weekly and the Pro Football Writers of America.

Griffin III, 22, completed 65.6 percent of his passes for 3,200 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, only five interceptions and a passer rating of 102.4.

He beat out Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson for the award.

Griffin was also named the offensive rookie of the year by the Pro Football Writers Association, and Green Bay Packers linebacker Luke Kuechly was named the PFWA's defensive rookie of the year.

Who you think is more mad Seattle fans or Colts fans? All three rookie quarterbacks had impressive years. All three made the playoffs too! Very impressive class.

Do you think it was because he ruined his knee so they felt sorry for him or because he represented a certain minority group as a whole better than Wilson or a combination of both?

This isn't the AP ROY, which will grade the typical prop bet. That is given out in a couple weeks.

I tried to look up the PFW ROY history, but it seems like such a minor award, there is no history. Anyone else?

So, don't tear up those NFL ROY futures tickets just yet, if you had you bets on Andrew Luck or whoever.

rg3 easily deserved this award, he was the redskins offense. the red-skins would have no run game at all, morris isn't about to get a huge contract if rg3 isn't there with that run option style offense. the run option was no where in the nfl before wash started it this year, san fran is using it now with kapernick, and seattle is using it with wilson. but no one comes close to how rg3 dominated down the stretch.

Easy to say that now, at one point we thought the Texans and Packers were more than the frauds they are.

Indy did play the Pats, who hung 59 on them, not a tomato can, but see what happens when they played a real team.

    Peterson 2012 NFL MVP also.

You'll have to go back to 2003 and 2001 when PFW and AP picked different MVPs.

In 2010 PFW gave Ndamukong Suh the ROY award, but AP gave it to Bradford.
