What are the benefits of leaving a top college program to go to the NFL?

is it more the ego, and challenge for these coaches than anything else?

    with College, i.e. Kelly, Saban..

they get paid a ton, are in full control,

and they have basically security for the next 5 years at least.

are teachers of the game, and can coach players, nfl players have egos, and dont wanna hear what some former college coach has to say.

not saying they wont be successful, guess they just like the challenge and see what harbaugh, and carroll are currently doing..

With the NFL its a what have you done for me lately, and can be out as coach with in a few bad years... unless your the Steelers, or Packers ... teams that give alot of rope to their head guys.

Maybe its just cause i Like the college game better, but if i was a head coach, i'd really have no interest at going to the NFL.

look at Paterno, Bowden, etc.... until they hit their 80s they never had to hear fire them grumblings...

Coach Frentez for Iowa is only starting to hear them now, and hes been there for years.

College Coaches get treated like Kings.

    What am I missing boys?

You really dont see college hoop coaches wanting to go to the NBA too often, they flirt with it then come right back,
(Coach K, Izzo, Knight) those coaches are like rock stars

Coaches have egos and the NFL is the biggest game in town. Eugene and Autzen Stadium are nothing compared to even the worst NFL franchise. Worst case, they can fall back on CFB and still write their own ticket. Nothing to lose.

    1) ego
    2) ego
    3) no alumni to deal with
    4) no bullshit administration...even though they have ownership to deal with at least there's no charade that they're there for any other reason than to win football games

every coach at that level like a saban wants to succeed in the nfl. this bull-shit about 'teaching kids' is all well and nice, but they are teaching kids through football. gotta love coaches who say that.

i don't get why you would want to stay in alabama.
    1) its alabama, in the deep south.
    2) its alabama
    3) if you don't win every game the season is a failure.
    4) the pressure is even greater at alabama because its the only sport they have, thus if you lose you will get death threats.
