And he is one of the top 3 favorites for the hiesman.

I guess they had to pick someone else other than another white boy to be in the running

No they don't, but we are talking player of the year awards. So in talking season awards, yea they matter. Te'o has a story with the two deaths he dealt with this year. He didn't deserve any of the POY awards.

It's because of the tragedy he faced in his personal life only and the team is in title game.

For real?? If we going off stats alone I could prob find some scrub in div 2 with insane numbers... Does that mean he should win?

Teo is easily the best player on the "best" team in the nation. Players like that will never have insane numbers. Unfortunately he does get more attention due to his personal tragedies and school, but that's not to say he ain't deserving. He is a once in a decade type player whose best attributes don't show up on the stat sheets. Born leader who is pure heart on and off the field. Made many huge plays in the clutch with the game on the line. Not to mention he is an Academic All-American, Eagle Scout, most humble guy you will ever meet, etc. Dude could prob run for president if he wanted.

Teo might not be the best player, but he deserves the heisman this year. Johnny will get his time

Is Truitt not as good as him as a player? Now as a leader hands down Te'o.

highest voted defensive player since Woodson winning it in 1997, was Ndamukong Suh who came in 4th place in 2009:

    National Rankings:
Tackles - unranked (as in, not in the top 100)
    Solo tackles - unranked
    Tackles for loss - 6th
    Sacks - 5th
    Forced fumbles - unranked
    Int - unranked

Teo is so overrated its unbearable, why the penetrate does this guy get glorified because he played a game after he lost loved ones.. People lose family every single fukin day, you don't see them being patted on the back for going to work the next day.

    Teo can suck my nuts.

Some moronic posts in this thread. He doesn't have ridiculous numbers because he plays on a good defense. There are other very good players on Notre Dame's defense that make plays too. Also, they aren't on the field all that much. For the most part, the leaders in tackles, tfl, etc will be players on sh itty defenses that are on the field 65% of the game. It reminds me of my high school days. We'd look in the local paper to see the leaders in tackles and it was always some sh itty safety on a 2-7 team at the top. Guess what? He wasn't the best defensive player...he sucked.

Tyrann Mathieu was the best defensive player in the Heisman race imo. That guy seriously made a huge difference.

Who the hell goes to work the day of/after losing a close family member? Companies offer bereavement for a reason.

Teo is by far the best LB in the country, he's probably the best leader in the game, and he is the field general of 1 of the few elite defenses. Theres a reason why he was a consensus preseason 1st team All American, and the guy who was last year was drafted top 10 and is now one of the best young defensive players in the game. Its not some BS honor to be 1st team All American

He seems like a great guy. Good for him.

Thant being said, I gave up on sports/entertainment/humanitarian awards a long time ago. They are politically manipulated and motivated by hype.

The best player/film/charitable person is rarely acknowledged.

    That doesnt even make sense.
A company that offers bereavement days isnt real work?

haha doing alot of assuming based off a poster saying "companies offer bereavement days for a reason".

and if rshhh did get an upper class education and it was paid for, good for him, sounds +ev, but it has nothing to do with a company offering days off after a death.. but im sure your top 10 in the world company doesnt offer them ...

unreal where does sbr find these people

Still in school, which I pay for (with the help of grants and scholarships). Even in high school when I worked retail, I was given bereavement to attend the funeral of my aunt. I was making just over min wage and was given 3 paid days off, plus more time if I needed it.

No boss in their right mind would prevent an employee from going to a funeral for a family member. Its not exactly a good way to handle a business and keep good employees around.

Keep up with the nonsense assumptions tho, you're doing great

I've been making this argument for the better part of the last month - if Notre Dame had one loss ... Te'o isn't in NY. He's there because of his team and the media hype. That being said, I'm rooting for him because he seems like a genuine good dude and I live in TX where Aggies are the most annoying breed. To see their golden boy get the shaft the resulting outrage would be classic.
