Von Miller hands down NFL Defense player of the year

Miller has 16 sacks, Watts has 16.5, Aldon Smith has 17.5.

In addition to Miller's 16 sacks, he also has 7 force fumbles and a pick 6. He could had easily tacked on 5-6 sacks if he wasn't intentional held by the opposing teams. In this Raiders game he should at least had 4 total sacks if he wasn't choked hold several times that resulted in over 40 of penalties.

Smith won't get it because he doesn't do anything else. Both Watts and Miller put on as much pressure on the QB just as much as Aldon Smith, but Watts is great at swatting down passing lanes, while Von Miller forces alot of fumbles and he also plays pass coverages.

Put it this way, nobody's comparing Aldon Smith to Reggie White or even Bruce Smith. Von Miller is already getting comparisons to Lawrence Taylor and Derrick Thomas.

“He reminds me of Derrick Thomas,” said Joe Vitt, a longtime NFL linebackers coach. “Watching him, with his arm length and the way he can slither, his great get-off … I think that’s one of the best compliments I can give him.”

    Guess who he's talking about.

It would be awesome that Peyton Manning wins Offensive player of the year, while Von Miller wins Defensive player of the year.

JJ Watt could win the Defensive player of the year award.

I love the reasoning that he would have more sacks if he wasn't being held. It must only happen to him.

Watt easily over Miller. Watt has 15 passes defended, incredible stat. See ya Miller, maybe next year.

by far its watt, 16 sacks 15 deflcated balls, think he leads the team in tackles as well.

If Miller stay within two Sacks of Watts by seasons end, he will win it. The Broncos defense overall are shutting teams down. They only given up 30 points twice to the best teams in the NFL, 31 to Houston and 31 to New England.

Texans defense on the other hand has given up 37 to scrubs like the Jags, and 31 to Detroit. The Houston defense also got annihilated at home by 42 points to the Packers.

If the Texans beats the Pat, and Watts contributes with a few sacks or Swats, he'll have a very strong case to edge out Miller.
