    Some say he was a compiler.
    Only led the league in saves 4 times in 18 years of closing.
    Bad 71 and 92 won loss record
    Lifetime 1.25 WH/IP ratio is high for a ninth inning closer
    Ordinary lifetime 3.03 ERA

    Take away the number of lifetime saves, Jeff Reardon had similar numbers.

    Mcgwire,piazza,bagwell,mcgriff, Larry walker,biggio,bonds and Clemens all should be in

    it sounds like you agree? but....

    so was bert blyleven (who shouldnt be in, mind you)

    his era is in the same ballpark as the others who have gotten in....thats not an issue...particularly since his prime was in wrigley (his career era there is 3.27 so it's much better elsewhere)

    had he pitched for anyone other than the cubs he might still be the career leader for saves (a stretch but you get my point)
