    From CSN Bay Area

Raiders fans have been salivating over the potential -- yet unfounded -- return of Jon Gruden since he floated his intentions of returning to NFL sidelines as a coach on Nov. 8.

The "Bring back Chucky" movement received fuel Tuesday when CBSChicago.com reported that Gruden and the Raiders are "in talks to bring him back to Oakland."

Gruden coached the Raiders from 1998-2001, compiling a 38-26 record and a 2-2 playoff mark. He led the Buccaneers a Super Bowl title in 2002 after leaving Oakland.

Gruden, 49, last coached in 2008 and has been broadcasting NFL games since 2009. He has been linked to the Philadelphia Eagles and, most recently, to the University of Tennessee.

if jerry jones stepped down as GM, gruden would've been a cowboy a long time ago

That's a rumor, that all it is. Why would Gruden go back to Oakland when he could probably coach much more talented teams like Phili, SD, Carolina, etc.

Going back to Oakland would be career suicide. Oakland has absolutely no talent. I can't think of one guy on that team who is top 10 in the league at their position.

It is rumored he makes 4.3 mil working for ESPN. The only way he returns to coaching is if the competetive desire is too much to ignore. Coaches usually have a short shelf life wherever they go. He could stay at ESPN for life.

I think Chuckie still has the drive to do it cause his 1st run wasn't very long and he's still young. Also there is the "unfinished business" factor maybe in Oakland he would like to explore. The Raiders despite their record have talent its not a bare cupboard by any means. We just need the right leader and discipline. I hear Monty is free as well haha bring him along!

this was a joke, right? the raiders easily have the worst collection of 'talent' in the entire league, they are absolutely horrid in all parts of the game. endless first round busts, disastrous trades, and lost draft picks due are all the raiders have. the worst owners, GM, coaching staff, and stadium to boot. they won't sniff the playoffs for at least another 6 years.

all of the power rankings agree with me. what do you have, besides this complete abortion of a franchise to root for? can't wait to hear about all of this supposed talent the raiders have that only you can see.

Usually these coaches are addicted to coaching and can't get away from the game. I think Gruden wanted some time off, but still wanted to be around the game by joining ESPN. He is still young and I can definitely see Gruden coach some team soon.

Let's see Paranoyd a solid o-line, playakers on offense, and a good front 7 on defense. Powerrankings don't mean SHIT when analyzing talent. You can have plenty of talent on a team and have a bad record thus a bad power ranking. But get the right coach and system in and things can change overnight. Seen it happen many times! Look at frisco lately for 1 example.

wow, you're completely delusional. your only potential playmaker on offense is mcfadden, but unfortunately he only plays 50% of the time at best. no depth at that position either. all other starting skilled positions are absolutely horrid (QB's, WR's, TE's) and, once again, zero capable depth at all of those positions. simply atrocious LB's and secondary as well. both lines are poor to average at best with tons of retarded penalties to boot.

to round it out, the most unqualified GM in the league, a complete moron for a head coach, and the worst stadium and city to play in. a complete fukkin disaster of a franchise from top to bottom. whatever drugs you're on, you best stay on them for at least another 6 years. gl

Seems like he would wait for a Saints/Baltimore/Pitt type of job to open up...A team that is already in the hunt, where he can step in and (probably) start winning right away.
