    New Mexico vs (23) UConn

This matchup is as intriguing as it gets. Young Keven Ollie leading his superstar backcourt against Steve Alford and his Lobos'. The Huskies are really struggling to knock down the deep ball consistently, but they have hit some huge 3's in clutch situations, (27% on the year). New Mexico is really struggling defending the 3, allowing their opponents connect from 40%+ in the early season.

This is what makes the game so interesting, because I'm curious how Alford will attack this gameplan. Will he close out on the talented guards knowing they could ball fake and get into the paint at will? Or does he decide to make them hit from outside to win this game.

New Mexico has a huge backcourt, Leading scorer Tony Snell is 6-7 and Kendell Williams is 6-5. If you watched Boat-wright and Bazz play before, you know they really have struggled against big guards. This is also going to be a problem for the Huskies as sometimes Napiar and Boatwright will get frustrated early as they begin to miss their shots, it dictates the rest their game on both sides of the court. Also It's worth nothing UConn is only averaging 31 boards per game to New Mexico's 39.

This one is going to be fun to watch how it plays out...

Imma huge Uconn fan and this one is definitely gonna be interesting to watch. Uconn could easily get worked on the glass and that would allow NM to pull away down the stretch. Obviously the guard matchups are gonna be fun to watch, speed vs size. I think DeAndre Daniels could be a sort of x factor in this one. He didnt show up last night but if he can get involved down low itll help to even out the rebounding mismatch, plus he can knock down some open shots from the outside. Something tells me Bazz will be ice in the last 3-4 minutes in a close game and go a little Kemba-esk puttin the team on his back for the W. Maybe im a little bias haha. Any lean though Lkid?

Bazz definitely seems to turn it up a notch when the game is on the line, and your not reaching with the 'little kemba-esk' as I've seen it in this kid since he was a freshman. I'm with you, If I was UConn fan/bettor I'd be nervous that they struggle from deep and and lose the battle on the glass rather significantly.

Are you surprised they are shooting such bad percentage from the 3? I've watched 2/3 of their games in entirety, and sometimes they settle for that jumper they could get anytime in the shot clock. With those two guys in your backcourt though, I never count them out.

Gl to your boys going forward this season...

Ya its kinda the same as the last 2 seasons in a way. Theyre stars in the backcourt. Only this year its even more so without Drummond and Oriahki. Their guards are VERY confident in their ability to will this team to victory. I know it sounds awful but i truthfully dont think bazz and boatright really trust all these guys enough to let them have the ball late in the shot clock. Theyre definitely settling for jumpers that they could get whenever they want which is a bit unsettling but thats what theyve done the past 3 years now. Even with Drummond and Oriahki they were still very guard oriented. But hey, maybe its a changing of tradition happening, so used to this team dominating inside with their trees its kinda fun to see a backcourt as quick and athletic as they've had recently. GL to the cards man, they gonna be a beast to tackle come march.

Take away fatigue factor and New Mexico is the better team anyway. UCONN has not played that well since their Germany game, I am thinking that was more of a result of mich St, maybe bad travel schedule or something but UCONN is not as good as their ranking.

Damn, wish UConn kept up their run so I could fade them with some great value later on. They are not a good team and will finish in the middle of the BE.

wish I would have saw the Quinnipac game on the board, 10 was a gift playing Uconn on a neutral floor. Not sure how it finished but saw it went to overtime
